That´s why I bring my loaded Kindle.
Olberman? Wasn’t he 5150’d after the election?
Who let him out of the hospital?
Medical practices, etc., need to be smarter about customer relations than to let office staff control the TV. Sometimes I’ve been tempted to get up, walk over, and turn it off.
Turn it off. Find something else to do, cook, sew, go for a walk, read a book, etc.
I’ve always been accommodated happily when I ask if they’ll change the channel. But I’m in Texas.
Now you are going to hear from all the people who turned off there TV a long time ago.

There are other brands too but here’s one https://www.amazon.com/TV-B-Gone-Universal-Remote-Control-Keychain/dp/B0006GD9CE
You need to find a new dentist. Having your kid pull your tooth with a pair of pliers would be less painful than watching Olbermann.
I have gone out of my way to start patronizing places that don’t have a loud TV blaring in the waiting room. It is quite difficult to find them, but there are a few, and I find my sanity is worth the effort.
It’s usually HGTV when I am at a doctor’s office. I either bring a book/Kindle or take a snooze. If The Spew was on, I’d probably also need earbuds.
Hang in there!!
