Then again, how is Dick Van Dyke still alive?
He smoked 4 packs a day and was also an alcoholic, but he is very much with us today at 92.
Some people just have great genes I guess.

She wasn’t that funny and came off hard.I only knew of her from the 1960s Dick Van Dyck show. Based on that series, I would never dream of including her among the funniest people of that period. Didn't know anything about her earlier career, particularly as a child star. In any case, reading about her personal life here, IMO, makes her a whole lot more interesting as an individual, as I myself am Italian (half) and from New York City.
