I wonder what moron(s) told them it glorified war. It's a really sad symbol

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Found the last stanza of John McRae’s poem.

...Take up our quarrel with the foe:

Thanks for posting this. We had to memorize this poem in 3rd grade. We also plant poppies at our house as a remembrance. We haven’t lost anyone but friends and neighbors have.
