Monsters of modern politics - End Electoral College
Wikileaks ^ | 2014-7-4 | hms@sandlerfoundation.org

Summary: Stephen M. Silberstein, a member of George Soros’s far-left Democracy Alliance, sheds light on the extent of Soros’s socialist agenda for America. Silberstein’s foundation backs a panoply of leftist groups that fight for higher taxes on the rich, wealth redistribution schemes, single-payer socialized medicine, burdensome regulation of energy markets, judicial activism designed to advance a radically egalitarian agenda, and the replacement of the linchpin of federalism, the Electoral College, with a national popular vote.

States with loose voter id laws would rule the country.

The number of dead voters would increase exponentially.

My opinion : ending the electoral college effectively means all non-fly-over country has effectively seceded from the union.

So, the Dodgers and the Astros both scored 34 points in the 7 games of the World Series. It is currently a tie so we need another game. that is what getting rid of the electoral college is like.

Sure, you can see it discussed on CNN.

What I find disturbing, as mentioned in the email, is that there’s 100’s of billionaires funding endless organizations to align on this...the deep “dark money”, as they call it, that is involved.

5 presidents have been elected while losing the popular vote. 4 Republicans and a Federalist. Never happened to a Democrat.

The President was not meant to be the ruler of the People, the President was meant to be Executive of the federation of states, dealing with interstate issues and international issues on behalf of all the states (e.g., common defense, foreign policy, commerce).

The several states were meant to be the government that ruled the people on a day-to-day basis.

This is why the Electoral College was designed to be a state-by-state body, not a people-at-large body, since its function was to choose the Executive of the federal government.

The truth of your post is absolutely correct.

Ending Electoral College would mean that the top five to seven largest states in this country would determine all elections for President.

Thus is the demonstration of the brilliance of the Electoral College.

I think you can also make the argument that voter behavior is suppressed in states dominated by one party. It’s likely that Republican voters in California and Massachusetts and Maryland don’t turn out in force because their votes absolutely do not count. Same for democrat voters in South Carolina and Oklahoma. But still, there aren’t enough enemy states that can vote to amend the constitution of the EC provision.

Yeah, how they’re not being identified as enemies of the state, or domestic terrorist financiers...

If the current state determined system is replaced by the congressional district system, I am ok with it. Otherwise, no. Of course, this would require a constitutional amendment and as such, is unlikely to be implemented.

District system:
Each congressional district receives 1 elector who is appointed by the candidate that receives a majority of the votes from within that district. If no majority, a run off election is held 30 days later with the only two candidates being the top two candidates by votes received.

Electors from the Senate seats
One electoral vote is awarded to the candidate that receives the majority of congressional districts. If no majority, the existing Governor at the time of the election appoints the elector.

One electoral vote is awarded to the candidate that received the majority of votes across the whole of the state. If no majority, the existing Governor at the time of the election appoints the elector.

I think if the electoral college was ever abolished the United States would split up into several independent countries.....which is exactly what the global elites/leftists want.

No, you have it backwards. The globlal elite want one world government. Look at Caladonia, they are being forced to remain in Spain. You have it wrong. Splitting up into smaller countries would be more freedom and less political strife. The elites don’t want that.

He’s 87. Although my fear is that he’s setup billions to be managed once he’s gone, and he has kids that appear as active in political meddling as he is.

That method of allocating electors is an available option for any state that wishes to use it. Two states already do. The rest could as well.

>> Trump should suggest it after he wins the popular vote in 2020 <<

Is my memory playing a trick on me again, or didn’t DJT speak out against the EC very strongly in 2012?

If so, maybe he could just recycle his old comments.

>> We need voting by congressional districts <<

The states already have the authority to do things that way, as witnessed by the current electoral laws of Maine and Nebraska.
