Is this true if two children say it? I suppose denial is denial. Dont remember if the beauty pageant winner.miss usa maybe..claimed her mother knew. I think father was influential.or maybe I am confusing stories

A lot of parents like this establish a pattern of believing every adult over their child early in childhood, and initiate preemptive punishments for assumed lying as a matter of course when one of their kids says anything.

Part of the trap these kids find themselves in is that if it comes to light that something really bad was going on the parent(s) will then either try to blame the child (who was trying to tell), lose custody (which might be best but isn't what the child wants), or abandon the family and run off someplace to hide from their disgrace.

There becomes no way out, even if it's a cowardly pervert instead of a potential killer (an altogether different horror some children face.)
