For Snape and Lily, Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle." John Denver's "Rhymes and Reasons" is another Snape video.

Saw Jim at “My Father’s Place” in Roselyn NY.

Shame....he died so young

Heartbreaking. What was he like in person?

Suddenly realize I’m confused. Who is Jim? Not Alan Rickman.

Apologies. Brain freeze. He’s one of my favorite singers. I was so focused on Rickman. They both died way too young.

Hans Gruber was never Jim Croce. But Elliott Marston might have been.

I never saw the latter movie. Is it worth getting?

If you like westerns get Quigly Down Under. I recommend it. For what that’s worth.

It’s worth a lot. I appreciate recommendations. Selling for only $6 on Amazon so picked it up. I loved Tombstone.

If you liked tombstone you should like Quigley.

If you like dark westerns, get The Unforgiven. (Not the movie of the same name from the 50s, but the one starting and directed by Clint Eastwood.)

Tombstone was probably as dark as I can take it. My favorites are comedies and fast-paced action. 1600 PA Ave; Reds and Reds 2; Jumping Jack Flash; Love of the Game; Our Man Flint; Bells of St Mary; Laura, Iron Man etc When I used to write, I wrote romantic comedies.

Interesting! So why dont you write anymore? I have basically two or three types of movies I love. Good westerns, good SciFi and good Mafia films. But there is a lot of crud in all 3 genres.
Of the movies you mentioned I only saw our man flint and Iron Man. I don’t think I watched all of Reds.

Did you see ‘guardians of the galaxy’. Hilarious scifi.

The writing was when I first came out of IBM Research on early retirement. Took a one week screenplay writing class and followed it to a T. It’s a total formula - to the minute! Writing went exactly by the timeframe they described and I had great fun with a inquiry letter. Got 17 agencies asking to read and 7 offered me representation.

I used to head the technical society for computer programming languages. I ran conferences and newsletters. I SHOOK whenever I talked with the agents. No idea why, but it terrorized me. Namedroppers, galore. No one was perfect, so I turned down the guy who was certain he could turn it into a FOX show, but dark, and went with John Grisham’s NYC book agent for 2 year/no way out contract. They subbed me out to Writers&Artists in Hollywood for that one, and the next that they liked better. And then dead silence. For two years.

Heard later that my agent was stealing from Grisham, but who knows. One of the agents I turned down got permission to rep me for a Forever Knight script but, while there was instant interest from the FK producer, they wanted a Canadian writer.

So after 2 years he told me to read the NYT for an obit of my agent. I called and asked if NOW we could find out what happened and they said they were sure they’d find out when Hollywood came in for the memorial service. Then I got a letter saying they didn’t sell. Period. No info and no other agent could get info. I think it burned me out. I just curled up into a ball and switched to other projects.

I was told by the NYC agency that they’d take a book from me, but I couldn’t bring myself to write novel style after the absolute joy of script style. But I’ve gone back to fan writing for the last six months to regain my novel style, so I do think I’ll start trying to rewrite the first vampire script into novel form. I’m always looking for a project in which to lose myself and I loved the world I created. A vampire who finds that he can only be himself when he’s in front of the camera in Hollywood. Other than that, he’s just acting. Strong comedy with a scary family.

Bought guardians but couldn’t get myself into it yet. Reds fits my sense of humor. Bizarre.

Jim Croce’s “I Got a Dream” was featured in the “Lego Ninjago” movie.

I haven't seen that movie. But I did the song for Lord of the Rings.

“Lego Ninjago” was extremely silly, but worth the price at the cheap show for my little boys and me. It has a real cat in it, knocking down the Lego buildings!

A reviewer in our church newspaper said, “It could be confusing that people could control elemental powers.” Hel-LO! They’re not “people,” they’re Lego figures the size of my thumb ...

When you say Reds and Reds 2, can I assume you mean Red? Just funny imaging a sequel to Reds, the Beatty movie about the Russian Revolution.

No. I can't imagine bothering to watch that one.

Red, not Reds. Good catch. Lost it on the plural. Thank you so very much for catching my mistake. Appreciated.
