The other day the wife and I were shopping in a "Walmart store in South Florida for some Christmas goodies. We finished, paid for our stuff and were on our way out to the car. I stopped my wife and, told her to sit, relax, I had to go to the "little boys" room.
I walked into the bathroom did my thing, and was washing my hands, when I noticed this young Black guy trying to manipulate his wheel chair into the bathroom to relieve himself. He was having a hard time, struggling with the wheel chair.
Before I could go over to him to assist, this young White dude shows up, grabs the steering handles on the wheel chair, and promptly wheels the struggling dude over to the toilets. He lines the kid up with the toilet, asked him if he needs any more help, the kid says I'm OK now.
But, the kid is having a rough time getting up and out of the wheel chair...so, I run over and two other guys do the same thing. We help the kid stand up and, tell him we are going to back off and give you your privacy, but, we'll be right behind you when you finish and place you safely back in your wheelchair. The kid says thank you, with a gigantic smile on his face. The White guy that first helped move the wheel chair. plants him back in the seat of the wheel chair, turns to him and says, "Hey dude, are you cool & OK now, can we help with anything else". The kid says, "no, I'm`perfectly fine now". The white guy heads out the bathroom exit, turns and utters "Dude, God be with you, always & may God bless and keep you, forever.
We all look at each other, and then go our own ways. Yes, Virginia, my child, love, understanding, caring & compassion is alive and well in these "Free United States of America". Stay Great America, Always!!!
I am cynical. While an instance like this is nice. It doesn't mean everything is changing for the better. At the same time this was happening a 53 year old woman was "knocked out" by thugs who then lay next to her unconscious body and took selfies.
So, you see, I understand it I who must see the good in life. I also am exposed to the truly horrid.
What do I teach my sons? Just focus on the good and ignore the horrid? How will that prepare them for the time that there see it for the first time?
I sucks, I know. I'm trying not be cynical all the time but a moments compassion portrayed in a vanity on FR can't wash away all that is evil in the U.S.
This is part of the goodness in raybbr’s life, which needs also be projected.

I still hold doors open for people, being 6’3” I am the designated “can you please get that off the top shelf” guy at the Supermarket and I always go out of my way to help people when I can.
When someone is surprised by something I do for them I always respond, my Mother would never let me forget it if I didn’t and they always laugh.
You are absolutely correct. The American Republic is unique in that from the very outset of the american revolution, the freedom and rights of the individual were paramount number one in the hearts and minds of the people and politicians.
The Republican & Democrat “Establishment” political Parties under and, through the Bushes, Clinton and Tyrant, Dictator, Criminal, America Hater, Obama/Clinton, have labored long and hard to make us all, “slave peons” of the government state, akin to many despot controlled nations throughout the world, Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Syria, etc., etc.
The Trump POTUS win, a win “of the people, by the people for the people, shows very clearly that we will not surrender our God given rights in being and forever, remaining, free, individual citizens...forever. MAGA...politically destroy both the Republican & Democrat Establishment political parties...AMEN!!! The good “legal” voters of both New Jersey and Virginia have a golden opportunity to do just that this coming November 7, 2017

Ok. I follow you up until your last sentence. I’m a Virginian. The candidate at the top of the ticket is none other than Amnesty Ed. You would be hard put to find a more GOP-e candidate. This guy has it all. Lobbyist. Former head of the RNC. Campaign advisor to Willard.
I’m flummoxed. What potential “win” are you seeing in this sorry state of affairs?
I could care less about Ed Gillespie...I just want him in there as Governor next year to help when Corey Stewart runs against that moron, mentally unbalanced, Democrat communist, socialist, Senator Tim Kaine.
With Gillespie as Governor, Stewart will have a cakewalk to victory over that deadbeat, Tim Kaine. There is more to an election then meets the eye sometimes...and, Gillespie knows, without Trump...he is dead in the water.
Every legally registered Virginia voter needs to get out to the polls and vote for Ed Gillespie for Governor.
