Has anyone noticed something a bit odd about the actresses accusing Harvey Weinstein?

I suspect if we were discussing Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones or any number of other women the tone would be different.

I think you posted that vanity as an excuse to call actresses “whores.” You haven’t responded to one person who pointed out the A list actors who called out Weinstein.

The same way that a reasonable person can hate both Nazis and Commies, a person can say that Weinstein and many of the women he victimized are scumbags......certainly not all, but many of us will reserve sympathy for those who haven’t spent their lives on a false crusade where Conservatives are the devil and islam/theLeft get a pass.

I hate what happened to these young women, (and men), but if some of the current and past A-listers had spoken up 20-30-40 years ago, it would have stopped long ago, and that is an uncontrovertable fact.

Years ago the liberal icon David Letterman admitted, on-air, that he has abused a young female staffer so she could keep her job, and everyone thought it was so “cute” that he did so.

On Carson one night, supermodel Lauren Hutton was asked why she had risen to fame so quickly. Her answer, not edited out was, “I arrived in New York on Thursday, did a lot of guys at parties on Friday and Saturday, and was working on Monday!” The audience howled with laughter.

Why didn’t it stop then?

The unmitigated anger and lack of self censorship, just because someone is POed doesn't make it Ok to use extreme language or be vile. I know that I have stepped over the line at times and been rebuked by the Mods, but for some time now I have been left with the feeling that either FR lacks enough Mods or that they aren't concerned. How else to explain some of the posts that remain up for so long or the posters that repeatedly make those post and are allowed to remain?

No one wants a site hard ridden by censorship, but for sometime now a goodly number of forum members lack even a loose adherence to JR's stated standards.

Actors and musicians are court jesters, nothing more.
People started losing sympathy for them when they forgot their only purpose in life is to entertain.

I'm certain that some women did. If it's consensual - and making a conscious decision to trade sex for career advancement certainly qualifies as consensual - then I don't see the problem. Two adults arriving at a decision that works for them. And I don't even doubt that some women who were not actresses willingly had sex with Weinstein simply because they were attracted by his power. The problem is that Harvey Weinstein seems to have raped and harassed women who made no such decision.

I agree and second the notion. I watch very little current TV or current movies. ON the other hand, watch quite a bit of old movies and TV shows. I could go to my grave and be happy with the decades of old reruns out there, and be happy if I never saw a new TV show or movie again.

What I did point out was that for everyone who has spoken out, there are dozens who did the deed, and stayed silent.

Example, Lou Pearlman, the creator of all the Orlando-based Boy Bands, required that each of the band members “service” him.

A few have very quietly spoken out, but the rest?

By the way, with your experience in the Performing Arts, did you not see what was going on, or, in order to preserve your own career, did you remain silent and allow the next generation of kids to be victimized?
