TV network executives are scrambling to solve the NFL ratings decline and are looking to possibly cut games on Thursday to prevent over-saturation.
According to Sports Business Journal, there are talks to cut Thursday Night Football from 18 games a season to eight games. The report states there is a plan to pull games played in the UK back to 1 p.m. ET, or 6 p.m. London time.
Ten years ago, the NFL had 32 game windows through week six, the publication said. This year, it is up to 39, a 22 percent increase. Its even more crowded in college, where the 2007 windows to this point added up to 105. This year, its at 179, up a whopping 71 percent.
So far this season, fans have been able to watch games on Thursday nights, Sunday mornings, Sunday afternoons, Sunday nights and Monday nights. Later in the season, games will be available on Saturdays, it added.
Some executives havent ever warmed to 18 Thursday games on the NFL Network, CBS, and NBCafter the format was expanded from eight to 18 several years ago.

Shouldn’t be playing on Sunday, anyway, as it’s the Sabbath.
We didn’t watch tonight, but saw on the news that the Ravens beat the Dolphins 40-0, so few will miss seeing such dreary games.
I don’t think the NFL understands how insulting they are to most Americans.
I had the pre-show on for about 15 min, they had changed it up from talking about the GAME to endless plugs for how various players are “giving back” to various causes. Kudos back and forth, wow, they’re so great. Mixed with manic silliness and music. I changed the channel. Libs have co-opted the game completely to make it a SJW parade.
To hell with the NFL.
Nothing kills a bad product like great advertising.
That’s funny. I’m over-saturation with all this social justice crap!
It must be weird for these players when they encounter normal Americans and they get treated with the contempt they deserve. Hey players you are detested now like Isis. American hating bigots. They know they can’t respond or its all over the media.
I didn’t even remember the game tonight until I read this. Shows how my interest in the NFL has waned.
How can they fix it when they are clueless on what is causing the problem? It's a shame former fans have not mentioned what the real problem is.
Miasma and Baltiless. - I'm sure it was another meaningless "barnburner"
The NFL might succumb to pressure from the Blacks to reinstate the likes of Kaepernick and other ungrateful overpaid players but they cannot force decent patriotic the watch the NFL games. Poor viewership means the companies will not buy expensive air time.
ESPN is planning another round of layoffs just six months after the network fired more than 100 employees, Sporting News reports.
Multiple sources told the sports news site that 40 to 60 people including on-air talent and radio personalities may be sent packing.
The layoffs could come as soon as late November or early December.
ESPN declined Fox News’ request for comment.

Sign of panic- NFL commercials several times an evening on stations. I never remember seeing so many commercial ads for NFL.
NFL owners and their pets live in a liberal elite bubble... so out of touch with the country it’s breathtaking...
