PITTSBURGH The Pittsburgh Art Commission voted Wednesday to recommend the Stephen Foster statue in Oakland be removed.
The recommendation is that the statue is removed from the public and placed in a place in private and "properly contextualized."
The Pittsburgh Art Commission will recommend removal of the statue within six months.
Foster, a Pittsburgh native who died in 1864, is famous for classic songs including Oh! Susanna and Camptown Races. Many of his songs were used in minstrel shows in which actors performed in blackface. The statue depicts Foster sitting above shoeless, banjo-playing Uncle Ned, a slave character from a Foster song.

I was thinking more of a particular scene from Blazing Saddles, but that one’s OK, too.
Haha....yea that was a good one.
Given enough time, the Dems can make Pittsburgh look just like Detroit. Shame on the politicians in this once proud city.
I wonder if the Pittsburgh Art Commission realizes that Foster was an abolitionist who tried to humanize blacks at a time when a lot of people were stone cold racists. I guess that doesn’t matter. Some of his songs used the word “darkies” and that’s enough to condemn him to Hell by the standards of our times.

The destruction of every AMERICAN by the commie piggies continues.
Mostly because there doesn’t seem to be much pushback.
Thank you.
That scene comes to mind everytime I hear a reference to Foster LOL. Great movie.
Whites are apparently unable or unwilling to stand up for themselves.
Evil we must be...
Just wait until whites eventually become a minority and still exhibit the same unwillingness. It won’t be pretty.

In this case, I wonder, and don’t know the answer to this, but wonder, who are the liberal idiots on the Pittsburgh Art Commission, how do those liberal idiots get jobs on that commission, and how is it that they have power to get this statue removed?
Is the leftist long march through the institutions such that, they have infected just about everything in society by this time? So then, leftists are found everywhere nowadays, infecting everything in our society?
I’m tempted to sculpt large piles of crap to place on all these empty pedestals... and engraved on each hardened turd the words “This POS was made possible by the race baiters of the Democratic Party.”
Old article so not sure if same idiots are involved but...artists and architects who volunteered. Now they may have to fill it according to racial quotas for all I know. They had terrible taste in art then ... if it's the same bunch then they are addressing Pittsburgh's "paucity of art" by actually removing one of the few worthwhile examples of art there is in town...and that is not the commission's reason for being. It was supposed to review proposed public works not remove public works.
So if no one specifically gave them the power they are just assuming it because no one is stopping them.

In the evenin’ by the moonlight
You could hear those darkies singin’
In the evenin’ by the moonlight
You could hear those banjos ringin’
How the old folks would enjoy it
They would sit all night and listen
As we sang in the evenin’ by the moonlight
This is remembered from sixth grade music class. When I was a bit older, “darkies” was replaced by “young folks”. PC was beginning.
And how many of this group are black? Im getting damned tired of this black guilt crap. I dont own a slave, none of my ancestors did, why should MY world be altered as punishment for something I didnt do?

However, they are appointed by the Mayor - Bill Peduto (D). No email address found - half the links there return "Not Found". Typical.
