The Feds have already looked into the Amway model in the 1980s and found nothing wrong.

Herbalife is being badmouth by an investor who made a bad bet. He bet the stock was going down to a certain level and it never did. His badmouthing Herbalife in hopes of getting his money back.

Read the article about Herbalif. The one guy who is trying to make money off of them by bad mouthing them.

Excerpt: Bill Ackman has spent the last five years trying to drive the supplement company Herbalife out of business.
He took a $1 billion short position in the company in December 2012, after which its stock dropped 10 percent in six seconds, which led to a temporary trading halt.

my parents were in Amway when I was growing up...they reached Diamond and it provided a lifestyle that has kept them through their older years even though they haven’t done anything in a very long time. Amway was investigated to the hilt and they determined it wasn’t illegal. I agree that at this point it would be harassment. Now whether everyone operates their own business ethically is another matter but that happens with every business.

I was brought to an Amway meeting when I was 17. I knew it was B.S. back then.

Specifically, the rider curbs the ability of the Federal Trade Commission to investigate whether MLMs like Amway are pyramid schemes

Okay. I'm confused. How does curbing the FTC ability to investigate MLMs harm Amway?

"A rider limiting regulatory oversight of Amway and other multi-level marketers that was originally attached to a budget resolution was removed from the resolution prior to a Senate vote on the resolution, The Post has learned."

Good thing that it was removed. No special treatment for them. Too many laws have been passed to make some animals more equal than others.

If all they were doing was selling products, they would be retailers, which is what they should be, and should be doing. When I walk into a store and buy something, the retailor wants to sell me their product, not a piece of the action. I try to not make eye contact in public restrooms, because that’s all it takes to start them talking about getting rich while doing nothing...except looking for others to do it to.

Employed there in 92. Done in 2008. Senior citizen now. Hubby retired from there almost a year ago. An extremely fine company and the best place I ever worked. They have been investigated thoroughly. I agree anything more would be harassment. RIP Helen DeVos. A great partner to Rich and their charity is well known here.

I was once seriously recruited to join the AMWAY way. I was another time recruited to join another group that used the same business model. Although I played with AMWAY for a couple of months, I decided in the end it wasn't for me.

It was a personal decision. Lots of people have become successful in that format.

Here's a suggestion to the FTC and the Federal Government: Leave people alone.

People are smart. They will go their own way and don't need the nanny state.
