My dad's 1953 Desoto Sportsman was a reliable car so far as I remember but for one thing. It always stalled on the streetcar tracks more or less in front of Avignon Freres French Bakery in DC. Car was a tank otherwise, never stalled any where else, not in snow, heavy rains, even forded flooded roads. Just that one bakery. After the second time, he told my mother she'd have to take the streetcar if she needed to buy there.

Ours was a kight gray with block top.

I knew a guy whose car wouldn’t start whenever he was over at his girlfriend’s late, so he had to sleep over.

Funny in the morning it fired right up.

That’s funny ;-)

I love those old cars. My dad had a Lincoln from about 1950.
