I discovered four years ago our local public high school does not demand The Pledge of Allegiance to The Flag as part of the morning ritual.
You want to pick a fight with me.
why ?
Yup ... I’m from Massachusetts ... left in ‘76 .... never looked back.
We were indoctrinated into it and adopted it as a display of our patriotism.
NO ONE learned of the socialism, Balamy, Hitler salute ar ANY of that until well in our adult years and by that timer ... we had already decided we were Americans and we say the pledge (warts and all) from our heart to display patriotism.
You keep poking for an answer tio a question YOU invented and then pushed as if it was the subject of this thread.
That is classic (and pedestrian) commie tactics.
You bore me.
Oh you ranted. Not picking a fight. Just want you to answer a simple question:
What is the value of mandatory pledges?
Yeah they have. And that’s what you want to happen again. We tell kids to start saying it at a time when they have no idea what it means, that’s FORCE.
You got one part right: INDOCTRINATED. Which is a word that should NEVER be used in association with a free republic.
See you just pointed out part of the problem. No one learned the REAL meaning behind the pledge until we were well into our adult years. You don’t see a problem with forcing kids to say something they don’t understand and can’t possibly agree with.
It’s not a question I invented, it’s actually an ages old ethical question: what value do pledges/ oaths/ promises not entered into voluntarily have.
You’re not bored. You’re scared. Which is why you won’t answer the question. You know the answer, and you won’t say it. Because the answer is they have NO value and your quest to bring the pledge back is anti-American.
