I have just had a thread pulled and I am rather baffled as to why. And I'm not sure how to even contact somebody to ask why which is why I am posting here.
The reason the thread was pulled according to the post is: "Why is this in the news forum?"
The answer to that question is because it was a post taken directly from an online newspaper - the Daily Mail
I've been posting here for fourteen years and this is the first time I've ever seen this happen. If the rules have changed, I'm happy to follow them - but I'm hoping I haven't been breaking them for fourteen years without anybody telling me. :)
You should file a complaint with the union.
You may be the victim of the posting Puritans.

I like following rules. I am unclear as to what rule I may have broken. I’d like to get a clearer idea as to that so I don’t break it again.
Posting the article to chat isn’t a bad idea, but it doesn’t tell me how to avoid the problem in the future. This was a news story from a newspaper as far as I’m concerned - but apparently that’s not enough. Fine. But I want to get a better handle on the parameters for future reference.
No. It’s Jim Robinson’s website. He can do whatever he wants that doesn’t break the law.
Actually, either one is acceptable.
Why don’t you PM the Admin Moderator?
.
Hey it is back up.
Now someone post to it.
When posting threads I have found there are some occasional mysteries to moderation on FR that are beyond my comprehension or pay grade. There are not always fixed rules, so far as I can determine. But I just shrug it off and move along....
Things are kinda arbitrary around this place it seems lately and with an increasing number of formerly acceptable sources now "not welcome" at FR.
You just gotta roll with it.
Thanks - that honestly did not occur to me. Brain dead. It should have. :)
Notify Fox News!! And Drudge!! This needs an Alert gong AND the flashing siren.
As someone else posted....maybe your 'news' belongs in the chat forum.
It appears quite clear from the Admin note.
The “rule” you broke was putting a general interest story in “News”.
So put it where it belongs and then there won’t be a problem.
In the past, if they have wanted a story not posted at all, they would say so via “No Thanks” or “Inappropriate Material for FR” or “Get This Crap Outta Here!”
(OK I made that last one up.)
Seriously - if the only objection was where you put it, then just put it somewhere else.
The worst is when the guy (no names please) insists on putting his vanities in news. It clogs up the news page.
It’s been moved to chat - which is fine. I’ll post articles like this to chat if that is what they want - but I’ve been here fourteen years and I’ve posted nearly 5000 threads and I’ve posted nearly all of them to news - hardly any to chat - and this has never happened before. If I’ve been doing the wrong thing since 2004, I find that a bit embarrassing. :)

Or perhaps he was in the shower.
We've all been talking about you behind your back.
I thought it was a great article.
Thanks for posting.
I appreciate your presence here, you have always been a great addition to the forum.
