“demanding more luxury” ha. make a quality pickup with stick shift, no gps or black box, rollup windows or fakebook at a realistic price and it would break sales records.
You need training before soloing on one of those things!
"...luxury trucks..."
... But that’s what American truck buyers increasingly want, spending an average of $46,844 on a pickup,
Please tell me thats not the real average people spend for a new truck. Thats insane.
I don’t think I’d want to get into a $47,000 truck with what is usually clinging to my shoes.
Unless a Democrat owns the truck...
Has to be related to Dicky Durbin. Has to be.
I don’t call these things trucks, I call them princess carriages. I laugh every time I see one in the company parking lot. Nothing like a one ton dually to commute from your suburban home to your desk job.
Slow Newsday at ABC....
Or are truck manufacturers trying to sell the American public on more options in the hope of making more money off fewer sales...
I purposely picked a 1500 ram for MY comfort. Leg room, comfortable seats. Would have gotten a ram charger or bronco but none of the current SUVs out there have what Im looking for. Most current SUVs are bloated-tick looking AWD estrogen vehicles .
Expedition comes closest but are no longer full F150 frame vehicles. (I wont buy GM or foreign).
Some of the electronic amenities are a bit much to negotiate while driving. But I enjoy the music system and the back up camera is 1 thing I would miss the most.
I rarely use the capped 5 bed. The back of the crew cab has enough room for most of my needs....but its there if I need it. My grown boys borrow it for hauling stuff in the bed.
Again I bought it as a comfortable 4x4 suv not necessarily a truck. I get around 22 mpg on the highway thanks to the multiple displacement hemi. Around town though its butt-awful at around 12.
Would buy it again if I had to. Nice vehicle.
Not me. I want hand-cranked windows and a manual transmission.
My favorite pickup was an old and rusty 1984 F150 4X4 with a big V8 engine.
It started every time, everything worked, and it always got me where I wanted to go. It was so imposing with it’s ugliness and rusted out wheel wells that no one ever seemed to want to pull out in front of me.
It had 400,000 + miles on it when I finally sold it to a friend for $750.00. As far as I know, it’s still running.
We called it “Buford.”
Love my 2017 F350 Platinum! Better to spend my money on me, than give it away in taxes. It is a tax write off for me so why not get the best.
We love our 2017 F250 Lariat!! It does double duty as daily driver in addition to hauling horses. Our two kids ride in it every day; why not get something comfortable and safe? All cars are getting more expensive these days as desired/required safety and other features add up.
Still have our 1991 F350 Lariat with under 100k miles on it. Great truck, but it’s like riding in an original REO Speedwagon in comparison. We couldn’t even put our kids in It safely because there is no full back seat.
I don’t see why one should be ridiculed for wanting something nicer and safer — not to mention lightyears ahead technology wise — just because that’s not the way “trucks used to be.” I’m thankful we had the option to upgrade, because we seriously love our new truck.
I’d rather have a stripped down model that I could afford as an extra vehicle.
It’s pretty depressing. Every once in a while I go out to the Ford Build It website and configure the F150 of my dreams and still not everything that’s available. It’s always well over $60k.
You cannot find a ‘basic’ truck any more.
No power windows, manual transmission, no electronic gadgets everywhere and no ‘leather’.....................
LOL - I bought a ‘98 Chevy quad cab 4 wheel drive pick up 2 years ago for $2000. She leaks and squeaks in all the usual places but still runs fine with about 275,000 miles on it now. It’s a tool. I use it when i need a truck. My son has it at his place right now in San Antonio hauling things for friends. Gets about 12 mpg. Bug out truck if needed.
