He's my husband's dog. Husband enters the room and his little tail tries to fall off. When I sit in the recliner to watch TV at night, he climbs to the chair top and my head to look out the window and wags his tail into my face, sending husband into gales of laughter. Rory is a dedicated TV watcher who waits for dogs or horses or cartoon animals to appear and barks himself silly. I play doggie music videos as a treat for him and let him bark to his heart's content.

Lynn-Dah-The-Dog was a Lab/Chow mix who absolutely LOVED Pink Floyd’s 20 minute opus “Dogs” from their album “Animals”. She would sit there in front of the speaker with her ears up, and tilt her head this way...and then that way, for the entire song.

Odie (a Maltese), who looked a lot like your dog, loved to ride the Harley with me.

Torey, the Border Collie/Jack Russel mix was so smart that she could howl on pitch during my vocal exercises.

Preston the Samoyed was an excellent Shedder and OD’d on Valium (Angell Memorial saved his life!)

My current BFF is Penny-The-Prancing-Pitbull, and I sing her name to her using the tune of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”, which brings us around to the ORIGINAL intent of this thread (LOL) the cultural trappings of Christmas, which are part of the American landscape, and which the left would love to take away from us! :-)

And which we won’t let them!! All in for a rousing chorus of Jingle Bells!

I’ve seen a German Shepherd on a motorcycle, but I bet the Maltese was a lot cuter! Wouldn’t happen to have a picture????

The hug at the end was the one I meant. I didn’t properly state which one.
There was plenty of heartbreak in that hug.
That was the perfect ending just sitting there to be properly used.

Nothing like a song that keeps repeating “Goodbye.” Sorry I was confused. I watched her whole series several times. A lovely lady and a real loss.

I have had several dogs, all the outdoor type.
My wife had a Jack Russell she kept in the house.

As our kids had gotten older she wanted someone around as I was a long haul trucker.
She said something about a baby, I told her to get a dog.
When I came home at the end of the month I quietly crept into the house at 6 am while everyone was still asleep.
Suddenly there was a ball of growling fury attached to my ankle! And it wouldn’t let go!
My wife ran into the room and disengaged the furball from my ankle.
That home time was a disaster. Dang dog spent the whole three days growling at me.
It took four months for the mutt to realise I belonged there.

Unfortunately after my wife died the dog was never the same. Wouldn’t go outside even though I had a dog door for it to use. She started urinating on the floor, then I had to watch where I stepped because she would poo on the floor.
I was trying to work through my own grief and it was too much.
I found her a nice home and let her go.

I do, but it is in a frame, and I don’t have a scanner.

It’s from back in the days of that ancient medium called “FILM”.

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your wife. That's heartbreaking. I forget how dear my husband is until we car caravan and he's suddenly out of sight and I panic. I'll hug him tonight. Your story was hysterical, and I'm sorry the dog and you never bonded. Good you found it a good home.

I'll also play Big Wheels in the Moonlight tonight and think of you. Husband parked on the side of SO many highways so I could videotape oncoming trucks. I hope it's been a deeply satisfying profession.

We got an RV that he was never able to drive. 37 feet was just too much. We got as far as the Mississippi before he pulled off and said the trip had just ended as he couldn't cross the bridge in a bus. So we spent a month in IL watching soybeans grow. Actually loved it. Drove home at 30mph on highways with me in the car detached behind to save him from big trucks. A kind person parked it in our driveway and it's been there ever since, an extra room on the house.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I got Lynn-Dah (Lab/Chow) after my husband died. She was with me through the loss of my house, two moves, a thirty hour trip to Boston to take care of Mom(whom she fell in love with), Mom's Passing, and another move. She passed away a year after experiencing 2 new England Winters.

I only lasted 2 days "dogless". My current BFF Penny-The-Prancing-Pitbull was a rescue from Boston's inner city and is a total sweetheart.

Once she accepted me was a very nice dog. My wife spoiled her rotten and I didn’t go that distance.
When my wife was in the hospital the last time the pooch knew something was wrong.

I loved truck driving. I got to see every state and a good part of Canada. I met great people and not so great people. Saw beautiful country, drove in every type of weather.

37 feet is a big vehicle for someone not used to it.
Pulling a 57 foot trailer I had a hard time driving my pickup truck while home.
I had a Dodge with 4 speed + overdrive. I was always trying to shift into 6th gear. NOT GOOD!
And backing up was a nightmare. I would subconsciously steer the way I did in the rig.
The kids would laugh their butts off.

In a few years I am going to outfit a van and tour the country. Off the interstate highways, all US and state routes.

That is a nice looking friend you have there.
Isn’t that coloration called brindle?

My son had a pit that color and it was a great friend. He had to get rid of it when he moved into a rental house. The landlord wouldn’t allow pit bulls.

Yes...Penny is a brindle.

I have seen boxers with that coloring too.

I have encountered restrictions too, especially in Florida Senior Housing.

No dogs over 20 pounds.

No Pits or Pit Mixes.

At one point, Lynn-dah (a Lab mix) and I were facing homelessness.

The manger of my current trailer home park met Penny and fell in love with her.

Have you seen the Donna character *I forget her name) doing a youtube with Tony Blair? Funny stuff ... there is also a youtube of Tennant doing a sub teacher role on English Lit, with the gal as an harassing student.

What they let me do was search the RV dealer for anything I preferred from any other brand camper, then they'd order that from the company and replace ours with that. Total mismatch, but everything fit us. Stuffed the shower with herbs for cooking. The RV is set up with wires in the walls so you can hook your computer to the internet at 7 different spots inside. So we each had our normal work areas. This is where I started doing the digital video editing. We spent the month in IL searching the web for bridges husband thought he could cross.

Oh, I do hope you go traveling. Without the stress of having to be somewhere at a given time, you should have a ball, and I was VERY impressed with the quality of people we met at campgrounds. Good people.

That pond is less than 2 miles from our house. We go there all the time.

It has some slightly challenging trails, a fishing dock, a boat ramp that’s handicapped-Accessible, and some nice woods.

We love to walk together, and I think the joy shows in both of our faces!
