I think Sinatra's change to a Republican was a gradual thing, certainly not overnight because of the JFK thing. Sinatra had basically been a New Deal Democrat all of his life.

Dean Martin, though, had been a Republican all of his life and did not like the Kennedy's. He told Sinatra he was wasting his time and would never be accepted at the White House. Martin, reluctantly, went along with Sinatra in the election, but I would be willing to bet he voted for Nixon.
He refused to come to D.C. for the big Inaugural Gala Sinatra put on for JFK. Dean was the smart & cool one m=, not Frank.

Read Nick Touches book, “Dino”, a great bio on Martin.

You missed my point or I didn’t make it clear. His “conversion” to republicans was because he was very loyal to the dems and felt BETRAYED. It was felling that his loyalty was not appreciated. This is not an atypical human response. look at employees who give their all and get their jobs cit or they are replaced after years and then they tell stories about things that went bad in the company. When you take people’s work, friendship, and they feel you dumped on them, any reaction might be expected. At least Sinatra did not tell stories. he could have blow the Kennedy image to hell had he wanted.

I have seen interviews where Rickles told that story. For some reason he could make fun of Frank and get away with it. check out some of the old Johnny Carson clips on YouTube when they were on. They are hilarious.

We went specifically to see Sinatra after he became ill, started forgetting words to the songs, etc. Saw him at the MGM Vegas. Was a great show. He forgot some words, made a joke about it, and worked right through it. We had a great time and got to see him before he died. All pluses in my book.

After JFK bailed on him and stayed at Bing Crosby’s, Sinatra cut Peter Lawford out of his life and the Rat Pack. Lawford was the one who had to tell Frank JFK was not coming.

Frankly (no pun intended) I don’t think you can be from his era of Hoboken and not have told an awful lot of people to go eff themselves. They would have thrown that word around like others use “excuse me”.

I saw Charlie Pride when I was a very young kid. He was playing in a bar in Anaconda, Montana.

If true, so what. That’s show biz, right? Besides, even though I like his music I’ve always thought Frankie was a bit of a toad. Considering the bilge that came out of his daughter’s pie hole this week this article is good for Trump.

I like his singing but I always thought he was all blow hard. I mean he had goons to protect his demure stature so he could mouth off anytime. IMHO, he was fussed over way too much by the public and media.

When you're told to "go bleep yourself" by Sinatra you know the message is really from the Mob.

Freeper Liz told a story about how Sinatra turned on his then valet because he found out the guy had danced with his then wife Mia Farrow. I seem to see a pattern here. Apparently Sinatra felt “betrayed” by many people who didn’t behave the way he thought they should. If Sinatra felt betrayed by JFK and the Dems he had no one to blame but himself. He put himself in the situation to be taken for granted. He was no different than any other Hollywood celeb who believes that when they give something to someone, politicians or otherwise, that they expect something in return. That’s not loyalty, that’s quid pro quo.

Sinatra was an unparalleled singer. That is why he had almost 50 years in show bidness.

Your comment indicates basic misunderstanding of human nature.Have you never given 100% to something and trusted the other person? I guess not.

If you want to understand Sinatra more, look at his love for Ava Gardner. If you want to understand people more, I can’t help you with that. I’m 70 and I’ve been a round the block and worked with a coulee of thousand people and am a student of the subject..
