Well, them good ol' boys did a damn good job of fooling the paleontologists. They've never been able to successfully refute the validity of that find.
In fact, the rock bed containing the tracks was originally partially covered by a large bluff of younger rock and stone. When the paleontologists dug into it to reveal more of the track bearing layer, they discovered that the tracks continued underneath.
Texans can be ingenious, but not quite that ingenious.
