When i was in Eurupe in mid to late 60’s axillary hair and unshaven legs were pretty common even with hot women.

I remember it being very “French” for women to have armpit hair. I’ve also seen photos of a young Sophia Loren with hairy pits. I don’t know when it became expected for women to have hairless pits and legs.

All I know is I couldn’t wait to be able to shave my legs. When I turned 12, Daddy bought me an electric shaver. Now that I’m a senior citizen, I don’t even need to shave my armpits - there are only a couple of fine hairs that still grow there. Certain areas on my legs are hair free as well. I still shave them occasionally if I feel like it. There are some good parts about growing older!

I would have preferred to live in that era then. All the shaving time adds up and could be spent doing interesting things instead. Though, being raised in this culture and this era, it looks and feels unattractive no matter how I try to think around it. We’ve been brainwashed I guess.
