I expect a nearby river to come WAY up after Nate goes by...the source is on the NC side of the mountains, which is notorious for heavy downpours.

I’ve never seen a hurricane without an eye. Must be a hurricanado.

It that what makes it atypical? No eye? I didn't want to watch the video so what is it?

>>>Add in the land speed to that sustained wind.

That's a myth. The forward speed is not added to the sustained wind. the sustained wind is the sustained wind...no need to add the forward speed of 26 MPH to it.

Right now the sustained winds are only 90 mph. It's forecast to become a cat 2 hurricane by the NHC...but I doubt it, given the current structure.

Seems like the intensity is higher on this one, plus no eye.

Considering Nate will not make landfall unto late tonight or early tomorrow hard to understand how it can pass by the park this afternon.

Looks very lopsided to me. I can’t tell where the center of circulation is. It looks like the cloud tops are warming and the heaviest rain is already over land.

I have to give Joe Bastardi credit. He said there was an excellent chance that Nate would become a Category 2 hurricane by land fall.

That was Camille. Practically speaking Camille was a 50 mile diameter tornado.
