They do not want to be this nation’s football league.

That's certainly what it looks like.

Perhaps there's another country where the fans will be more to their liking.

Watching their demise is more fun than watching their games.

Interesting. Years ago I worked with a very nice guy named Madison Clinksdale.

That's completely different.

A 6-12% decline YoY, compounded, is a slow bleed at best.

It looks like the NFL has 10 years left, at least. And that’s too long.

Maybe they should raise ticket prices. And bring back Janet Jackson for a wardrobe malfunction encore.

“The games started to become unwatchable several years ago as the time between plays starting resembling baseball with constant referee huddles, sock throwing and commercials.

From the 2 minute warning to the end of the game could take 25 minutes.”

The allotted time for NFL games on TV is 3 hours and they typically run over by about 30 minutes per game. The game of course is 60 minutes per the game clock. Studies have been done to determine how much of that there is actual action on the field. It turns out it is approximately 11 minutes.

The games started to become unwatchable several years ago as the time between plays starting resembling baseball with constant referee huddles, sock throwing and commercials.

That’s not at all what makes the game unwatchable.

None of that has anything to do with anything.

Its all due to tv network and advertising money...networks run by flaming libs...most advertisers have some liberal (read profitable) need to serve liberal bias...so the league has become an afterthought now that the market is “locked” in..expect it to become less and less of an attraction and its success will resemble a company whose product line is outmoded and will be superceded by other forms of athletic competition.

I stopped watching last year too. My family has 8 season tickets to the Denver Broncos since 1975. That’s a lot of years and money. I truly love football and I do miss it.

Yes, I love the smell of schadenfreude on Sundays.

Pick a reason – game quality, protests during the national anthem, support for exiled quarterbacks, support for the President – and it will likely be used as someone’s cause for tuning away from the league this season.

The article seems to be diverting attention way from the National Anthem protests being the problem. Instead, it blames other things. For example, it blames the NFL's "support" of the President.

Huh?

You’re assuming that this trend will continue. I’m not so sure. It might settle down to this new normal and they’ll be happy to live with that.

I can even see some addicts that have temporarily given up the opiate regressing and sneaking back, unless the players and the league keep being stupid.

The NFL has successfully moved itself into the condition usually associated with wearing a new pair of shoes that causes blisters. You want to get them off as quickly as possible, leaving you with a painful memory.

Now that I’ve not watched since last year. I find I don’t miss the NFL at all and I’ll probably never watch another game.

Ditto. With the kneeling business, the felons, the wife-beaters...

I just found that I couldn't continue to watch and remain true to my values.

I don't actively "hate" the NFL. I just don't care any more.

Yeah, I’ve noticed some going back to the dope too.

Disgraceful humans who support anti-American humans.

Directly and overtly.

And deep down inside they know that’s what they are doing, all the while giving lip service to their hatred for those shitting on the graves of dead heroes.

Then writing them a check every Sunday.
