Will the late cowbellist "Gene Frenkle" and Bruce Dickinson share in the award for their contribution to Don't Fear the Reaper?

I have been re-listening to a lot of my sixties and seventies music (the era I sort of paid attention through the cloud of sex, (a lot of) drugs and rock and roll), and I am amazed at what poetry I missed due to my clouded condition.

LOVED the Stone's "Wild Horses" for the tune and the instruments but actually paid attention to the words ( like a poet ) the other day;

[Verse 1]

Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady, you know who I am
You know I can't let you slide through my hands

[Chorus]
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

[Verse 2]
I watched you suffer a dull, aching pain
Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Can make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

[Chorus]
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

[Verse 3]
I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken tears must be cried
Let's do some living after we die

[Chorus]
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses,we'll ride them some day
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them some day

And the point of this post is that "our" music of back then was very soulful.

The Moody Blues were SO ahead of their time in musicality and technology and I was blessed to have been born in '48 to be around for that musical era ... albeit very stoned.

THIS post surprises me because I thought they were already there.
