Odd, I've never thought of cold cuts, cheese, or spreads as breakfast foods.
My first morning in Germany at NATO in Stuttgart I was served cold cuts, cheese and spreads with my rolls and coffee. I didn't know enough "kitchen German" to complain without sounding like an "ugly American," so I ate everything on my plate!
My first TDY to Europe was to EUCOM in Vaihingen. Stayed at the Fontana. That was my first real Continental Breakfast.
I spent a lot of time there at EUCOM and always at the Fontana.
