Take-a-knee protests at NFL games drop dramatically after backlash
The Washington Times ^ | October 1, 2017 | Valerie Richardson

There was a lot more standing and a lot less kneeling at Sunday’s NFL games in what could be viewed as a victory for team unity or President Trump, depending on your perspective.

About 40 players — 30 of those from the San Francisco 49ers — took knees during the national anthem during Sunday’s slate of afternoon NFL games, far below the estimated 200 who knelt or sat last weekend in a show of protest during “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The vast majority of NFL players stood at attention — in some cases linking arms with teammates and coaches — as the anthem was played. Several teams knelt in unison before the anthem was played, then stood.

The dramatic drop-off came after a backlash that saw some fans burn jerseys and vow to stop watching games in reaction to last weekend’s protests, which spiked after Mr. Trump suggested at a Sept. 23 rally that team owners should fire players who refuse to stand.

Some players found other ways to protest: About 15 raised their fists either during the anthem or afterward, while Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch wore a T-shirt before the game saying, “Everybody-vs-Trump,” then sat on the bench as the anthem played.

In London, three Miami Dolphins players took knees during “The Star-Spangled Banner,” sung by Darius Rucker, then stood for the British anthem “God Save the Queen.”

I was a packers fan until this past month, but Aaron Rodgers has proven to be a real pussy. He needs a little pink knit hat.

You’re correct and there will be a number of them that are too stupid to stop.

BS. Cam Newton gave a “black power” salute after a TD and players from teams across the league took a knee.

And the stadiums were pretty much full everywhere.

Americans will have their bread and circuses.

A friend watched the Air Force Academy vs. the UNM Lobos today and said not only did some Lobos take a knee, but 2 of the Air Force Academy players took a knee.

I was shocked. I also wouldn’t want to be those 2 players. I doubt they get away with it. As for the Lobos, we live in Albuquerque and I’ve already written to the head coach and UNM’s brand new athletic director expressing my displeasure.

Seriously? A USAFA student took a knee during the National Anthem?

For a USAFA player to take a knee should be an immediate one way ticket home for good.

That’s despicable!

As long as anyone in the NFL takes a knee during the National Anthem or raises a fist in protest the NFL will be dead to me.

Same here. Especially when what they are protesting is one big lie. I have found other things to do today.

Just uttering the word “NFL” (not really a word, but you get the idea), makes my skin crawl. I will never, ever watch again.

I agree & yes, petitfour, that’s what my friend said. She is a strong advocate that taking a knee is wrong and that’s why I have no doubt that she saw what she said she saw. I’m looking for confirmation now - just to see if there are clips online or an article.

She said it was raining at the start of the game so they did the anthem ceremony at half time, which is when this occurred.

I think we need to reconceptualize what a win looks like. Is it every NFL player standing with their hand over their heart because they are ordered to? And then we go back to watching them? Nay. We should burn it down to the ground because they have showed us who they are: vipers and anti-Americans.

They don't even know what Americanism is. We should teach them. Fck em.

Over 70% of the NFL is comprised of black males. Over 95% of the defense players in the NFL are black males.

The owners are terrified of having to stand up to their own players, because they don't want to be called "racists." Trump knows this. He tweeted the owners are afraid of their players.

I still don't understand why the owners would be afraid of these black players. These black players can't sue for discrimination or even label the owners racist since they make up 70% of the NFL. I still think there is much more to this than we know.

I believe the guy playing the anthem on his harmonica (awful rendition) was on his knee but the cameras did not show it. However they did show him rising after he finished. The NFL thinks we are all stupid.

I guess my friend got it wrong, at least according to this article:

Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun was asked about the situation after the game (no Air Force players were seen taking a knee), and he showed no ill-will over the decision.

“That’s their right,” he said. “They live in a country where they’re allowed to do that.”

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/10/01/five-new-mexico-football-players-took-a-knee-during-national-anthem-performance/

It says 5 NM players protested by taking a knee.

SORRY for the bad information everyone!

Marshawn Lynch should have stayed on the bench today. It would have been less embarrassing. His stats show he had 9 carries for 12 yards in the Oakland Raiders loss to the Broncos. He’ll be very lucky if Pres. Trump doesn’t skewer that loudmouth with a Tweet for his poor performance.

We have already seen ‘peak NFL’.
The worm has turned.
Proud Americans no longer can partake of the NFL without feeling like traitors.
Checkmate.

I believe so as well.

There is a coordinated, behind the scenes effort to destroy every facet of our culture, including the family, patriotism, decency, morality, the Constitution, the military, the police, and our love of God.

Soros is just one of the players behind the scenes. The globalists are in a full scale war against America and the President. That should be clear to anyone with an IQ above room temperature.

Football and other sports is just another battleground.

Why the NFL?

All you have to do is dissect some of the people involved, and it becomes crystal clear.

Joe Lockhart is now on the NFL Vice President for Communications , he is one of their chief strategists. He was hired on January 19th, 2016, the day before President Trump was inaugurated.

Lockhart is the former press secretary to President Clinton.

NFL hires 2 VPs, including former Clinton staffer

Lockhart owned the creepy mansion in Washington DC that the Obama's moved to in January. Lockhart rented, then sold, it to them.

The Obamas just bought their rental home in Washington

This is the same house the Obama's built a huge wall around.

From this creepy place, Obama (who unlike all other former presidents, stayed in Washington after he left office) is leading the Deep State and secret war against America and President Trump.

It is no coincidence that Lockhart is now advising Roger Goodell on what to do. When Trump hit the NFL hard, it was Lockhart who formed the strategy of "unity" in an attempt to hide their intentions. BLM and other divisive terrorist organization are also funded by Soros and others. All of this is part of the greater war.
