I think the movie is quite good. It was made for TV in 1973. You can view it here on YouTube.

Thank you!!! I was introduced to this short story in grammar school when I was about ten or twelve years old. Our teachers were much more patriotic and dedicated to the USA, the haters they are today.

They loved the country and they loved us. My wife and I went to see the picture in 1973, with those great actors in it. I shed tears through much of the movie, even though I was thirty-five years old.

I have traveled all over the world during my life....so I know how lucky anyone is if they are born here or, arrive as a legal immigrant. This country, along with my wife and family is the love of my life!!!

Thanking you for the link to the film. The time taken to watch. Though the story was known, the movie had never been seen. That remedied in these early morning hours.
