DENVER, CO – A group of Colorado Avalanche fans has written an open letter to President Donald Trump and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman following the weekend's developments.
The group of diehard supporters co-signed the memo asking for sports to be left out of their beloved politics after the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they would be accepting the invitation to the White House.
"We, the undersigned, write to both of you explaining how we are devastated by the way the sport has infiltrated politics the last few days," the letter reads.
"We are regular, hardworking westerners. When we come home each day, we use politics as an escape from the horror and devastation that we witness at every Avalanche home game."
"Enough is enough. Please stop making politics all about sports."

Politics infiltrated the NFL more than a year ago when K'nick and his cronies started protesting during the national anthem and it carried forward to this year.
And politics also infiltrated the NBA last Spring and Summer when the Spurs' coach and the Warriors' coach and players started bad mouthing Trump, and then the Warriors starting in June mouthing off about whether they'd visit the WH when any such visit was more than six months away and no formal invitation had been extended.
Trump never commented until last week on events that had been going on for more than a year.
I understand the hockey fans concern, but they need to get their facts straight.

The sad reality is that politics and sports have gotten mixed up the last few years BIGTIME, with ugly results.
The Left has all the other forms of entertainment in their pocket, so it was only a matter of time before they went after sports.

The NFL and NBA, yes that is the case in those two leagues, there is that unfortunate situation of politics and sports.
I said they would go after Sports, it’s to be seen if they’ll succeed.
They will not touch hockey, it is a niche sport. With baseball going into playoffs, very unlikely.
