American Made premieres this week, bringing two reunions with it: Tom Cruise and Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman, and Tom Cruise and his ever-growing age gap with his female co-stars. Sarah Wright (who plays Cruises wife in the film) was born in 1983 just a couple months after the premiere of Risky Business, making her 22 years Cruises junior. Which is somewhat uncomfortable.

They say half your age plus seven years is an acceptable (but not common) difference in what used to be known as a “May December” relationship.
Why isn’t this in breaking news
Yes, it’s true generally, and probably always has been. Over 40 is probably the start of peak for leading men, and the upper limit for most leading actresses.
But there’s probably more leading roles now for over-40 actresses than ever before. Better living through chemistry (and surgery).
Here’s a chart of some age differences:

“These days I will be standing in the checkout line looking at the fetching young women on magazine covers, and the first thought that crosses my mind is shes probably my daughters age.
Wife on observing hubby eyeing teen aged girl: “Do you look at your daughter like that?”
Hubby: “Of course not! That is sick! I look at her friends like that though...”
I went to all boys school. Lol
Fixed it for ya!
The cult of Cosmetic Surgery is far more insidious than the cult of Scientology and followed by far more people.
“Isnt that true of pretty much all leading men? I remember Sean Connery in the later James Bond movies was frolicking around with the same 20 year old ladies even when he was pushing 60...”
Ah yes, the Sean Connery effect. When men age, they tend to look like Sean Connery. When women age, they tend to look like...Sean Connery.
(I kid! I kid!)
There is, however, a significant correlation between the two, you must admit, just as a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle isn't necessarily a square.
You’re not too big to be turned over your mama’s knee.
14 please!
Past puberty, before brains.
I’m 64, I know...
Sean Connery, pushing 70 in 1999, was paired with 30-year old Catherine Zeta Jones in ‘Entrapment’.
He looks 57 to me. He’s always had old eyes.
Tell me about it.
I'm of an age where I can be attracted to a woman, her daughter, and her of-age granddaughter!
Movie: Dazed And Confused
Actor: Matthew McConaughey
Line: (paraphrased) “High School girls, I get older but they never do”
My girlfriends have steadily gotten younger but that is not because I have sought younger women. My girlfriend is 23 years younger and she sought me out. She is annoying because she refuses to watch Black and White movies, but I forgive her.
Either you misspelled milf, or that was a cheesy comment...
Yeah. someone chided George Burns about dating younger women, he replied “At my age, they’re all younger!”
When my dad turned forty (30+ years ago), he was talking to our Pastor. My dad joked that now that my mom was 40, he was going to trade her in on two twenty-year-olds. Without missing a beat, my Pastor said "You're not wired for two-twenty."
My ex would have added ... yet.
