Maine forest rangers say the quick actions of a woman armed with a frying pan helped stop a forest fire.
Rangers say Nancy Weeks used a frying pan to carry water back and forth between the flames and a nearby pond in a wooded area near Beddington.

It must have been a very small forest fire. It is a good thing she kept it from spreading though.

good effort, but kicking the leaf litter back to make a fuel break may have been easier
Years ago a buddy in MN wanted to burn a brush pile and it ended up as an out of control grassfire. All we had was rakes and stuff that couldn’t stop it from spreading but when the rural fire dept. got there with their grass rig, it was nothing but a pickup with a couple hundred gallon tank and spray hose like a weed sprayer. It was amazing how little water it took. Probably a little more than the 3 cases of beer we dropped off but not much.
