Some guy a decade or so back had leased several blocks of the area below the I-880 in Oakland for storage. He either died or just abandoned it, and we got called in there to tally up all the hazmat and get rid of it. There were several Citroens and Panhards under there among the cars (I called it “The place Pontiac vista cruisers go to die” because there was about a dozen under there.

I kick myself thinking about it because there were pallets of new in box parts scattered under there, OEM stuff for 40’s to 60’s/70’s era cars. Not bauble and gewgaw stuff either, rods, bearings, pistons, cranks etc...

If you get a bad sun headache, which is probably from the tension of squinting, take a shower massage and just run it over your skull for a while. It was like redemption for me after my boss had a couple of us whitewash the general store we worked at on a hot Virginia summer day.

lol no- wish they did give some kind of pain reliever- but with the opioid hullaballu these days- they don’t- I was told by a HC PA that if i was passing a stone- go to er- “There are meds they can use to ease the pain” So i drove- in pain, to a hospital once- they just gave me saline drip- no pain meds- and I thought “I coulda stayed home and not suffered the drive on bumpy roads to get there for all the good they did” So i just stay home now- drink plenty of water and use heating pad- and pace the floors for hours- )Can not get comfortable- sitting hurts too much- laying down too- only thing to do is pace- doesn’t help much- but kinda takes mind off the pain a little)

But believe me, I blubber like a baby sometimes- You really do kinda go out of your mind a little when pain like that hits- I can’t imagine folks who have larger stones what they must go through-

Kidney stones are like a cruel joke- they cause so much pain, then when they finally pass the size is so small it makes you laugh that such a small thing like that can cripple a person practically-

I kid around and say that I’ve savede enough stones to build a foundation for my new home (I save the stones cuz docs are always asking to see hem to analyze them- things liek that fascinate them I guess lol)-

thanks- I’ll remember that if it happens again- but i rarely, thankfully, ever get headaches- and only once had one that bad- that day was an exceptionally bad day- I commend folks who have to deal with headaches like migraines and cluster headaches- I certainly can’t stand even mild headaches-

Pontiac vista cruisers

That was oldsmobile. We bought my Father-in-law's 1970 vista cruiser and loved it. My parents had a 1966 vista cruiser that took nine of us from Alabama to California and back, camping all the way. I must say that vista domes are the only way to see the Giant Redwoods, the Golden Gate Bridge or a modern downtown megacity metropolis.

I’m not sure what the car was i saw on yuotube (The guy was intentionally taking sharp turns to flip it over) It didn’t look like there were any skid plates though- and the single tie was in back if i remember right

I had an 87 XR4TI, fell into it used. Swapped a turbo 6 cyl 5 spd from an 88 Mercury XR-7 into it. I regret parting with it.

Got to drive my favorite Uncles 72 Pantera a week after I got my DL. He wouldn't let me go faster than 140. Said it got light in the front about 150. We made a 100 mile beer run on a Sunday in much less than an hour. I drove there, he drove back.

I got to drive a Bricklin gull wing. Safety Orange.

The strangest was a Dymaxion. Very few made, rear wheel steering like a forklift. That was a strange car. Well mini van prototype that is.

I could be wrong about the skid plates.

Years ago my brother had a friend in the car rebuilding business and worked on exotics. He would enlist my brother’s help to drive them from other parts of the country to his shop. Panteras, Bricklins, lots of Lotuses. It was always cool when my brother would swing by the old family house to show them off to me and my parents - and take me or my dad for a spin around the block.

There was a rather organic feel to the driving experience, I could see why people developed an attachment to them.

The Dale. A huge scam perpetrated by a transvestite charlatan in the 70’s. Fooled everybody, seriously covered by all the major US automotive press and hailed as a breakthrough in vehicular design. Major disbelief and then astonishment as the story got weirder and weirder, when the founder went on the lam, disappearing.

50 years ago when I was only 17, I rode in my uncle’s de Tomaso mangusta, 100 mph, down the service drive next to the I-5. All I could say was WOW. Not weird at all.

There was an old guy who worked in the lumber yard in the town where I grew up who had a hand made wooden car. Unfortunately when the building burned down, so did his car that was parked outside....

You’d think someone could make a killing by selling these in flood-prone areas of the country. I’m serious.

I pass about 60 per year- most go through with no issues- about 5% or so cause severe pain- throwing up blacking out, blubbering like a baby pain-

A friend of mine's wife had (emphasis: HAD) a similar problem that ended her up in the hospital more times than I can remember. She ultimately had kidney surgery and her doctor put her through a battery of tests that ultimately nailed down the problem that was causing her to have so many. I don't remember exactly what the condition is caused but something in her diet which was supposed to be a very healthy diet caused her body to make kidney stones. Corrections to her diet and over time she stopped making and passing so many. She's been just about pain and kidney stone free for about a year now.

A friend of mine lived next to some folks that had two Citroens. Looked funny but solid. Their driveway lead down to the garage, so you would see the car level off and settle down.
