The Chicken Dance is German?!

I took my then under-ten year old daughters to what was advertised as a father-daughter dance instruction at my wife's request. It quickly devolved into a bad DJ wedding reception sans bride and groom. When the chicken dance thing came up we left, and I told my wife "Never again!"

And the Germans are responsible for this? The horror!
