Start with about 10 free kicks for each side, then play the “game”.
“Europeans and South Americans are OK allowing the refs to keep the game time to themselves. They are also OK with the refs revealing the end of the game at some seemingly random time with no prior warning to players or fans.
What kind of people would tolerate this?”
You have no idea what you are talking about. It’s funny! And yes, I’m laughing AT YOU not WITH YOU.
Please don’t bother to respond because I’m not wasting my time reading it.
Some people really need to get a life.
Don’t like it, don’t watch it. Sheesh.
I have more respect for a skilled professional bowler than any soccer player. Harder to bowl a 300 game than score a goal in soccer.
And rugby players are more athletic than Messi.
I can fix soccer with just one change. Get rid of the offside rule.
Our kids are in their 50's now, and when they were Jr High, they basically got high jacked by the principal a good friend into going out for soccer. They had gotten past the awful days of little league baseball, touch or Pop warner football and wrestling where they strained and sweated with another straining and sweating opponents.
There were no Hispanic kids on their team, and they never scored a point in the whole season. We were the among the other happy parents when the kids said no more soccer after the last game.
Flash forward to a grand daughter playing. Her team was fairly good and got into the finals. She got knocked down by a female thug on the other team. She went crying to her parents and both of them told her, "That's life, take it and cry or do something about it!"
She got back into the game and put the thug down twice legally and scored a goal. The toon below shows most of her season as a talented dancer not that interested in soccer.
I’d rather watch a soccer game than support the anti-American NFL.

WOOT!!!
No. I had a Mexican roomate and it is a sport for abnoxious stupid fans. I thought US football fans were stupid, well....
2. There are more concussions in soccer than in US football probably, so ef yourselves with the Euro sport sht admiration while US football gets demonized every chance..
“Im one of those who, when asked to associate a word with soccer, would immediately blurt out hooligan.”
You may appreciate this about a soccer fan of a team known for having hooligan-types:
London attack: Football fan shouted ‘F*** you, Im Millwall’ and took on knife-wielding terrorists with bare fists
I love soccer and played it since I was a kid. We were as conditioned as any other athlete and practiced longer and harder.
The anti-soccer blather is rather harsh. Those who criticize tend to not understand the sport or never have played. American Football doesn't translate any better across our borders no matter what the NFL says. Soccer is not good TV here and soccer is on every TV everywhere else. Soccer is God to them as Football is King to us. To each there own and taste in sport.
Wow. I couldn't disagree more, and I like Rugby. Messi is most definitely one of the greatest athletes in the world, without any question.
You nailed it. Rugby seems to be the only real sport remaining. I can’t watch anything else.
No.
We need to come up with American Soccer, oh wait we do, it is called Football.
easy fix... set the ball on fire!
Naw, the guy’s a ball hog...Rarely passes the ball to anyone and misses over 90% of his shots to the net...He spends so much time watching the ball he doesn’t know where his team mates are at...Puts on a good show with not so good results...
I find that when I have a rooting interest, especially against anti-American countries such as Mexico and its anti-American fans, it can be exciting and wins enjoyable.
It should only be prescribed to insomniacs.
