Criticizing people after the fact is always so easy.
People CANNOT wait until the storm is on them to find out if it’s really going to be as bad as they forecast before they decide to get out of the way.
You CANNOT leave when the storm is on you and increasing in intensity.
You are blaming people and holding them accountable for their warnings beforehand based on knowledge of what ended up happening after the fact.
That is just not right.
And if people choose to ignore the warnings next time and it plays out as forecast, then it’s on them.
But regardless, the NWS is still obligated to tell people what the forecast is showing will happen.
And they never claim pinpoint accuracy anyway. They ALWAYS tell you to watch the cone of uncertainty. When people bug out, they have to know that it means they might not have needed to. It’s only common sense.
But I’ll bet many of them figured it was better to get out of Dodge and come back later than to ride out the storm. And the choice is theirs.
