Like Superstorm Sandy, what fed the massive storm was not it being warm, but that there was a cool area just north of the hurricane, which was cool and moist (Enough that it doesn't "dry out" the hurricane, robbing it of energy instead of charging it).

As I said, if they could just leave their pseudo science out of it they would better serve the public, but because they cannot, they cause more harm, and more deaths than they save most the time.
Think about it, if the Hurricane does skirt the west side of the peninsula, then we are sending millions of people directly into the trouble, instead of keeping the safe. Central Florida is a huge swamp. Yet how many could be deluged with water surging in from the coast?
