While he was on Hokkaido, Japan his mother died and Don got leave to go home for the funeral. While home, he married his HS sweetheart. After Don made it big, I often wondered whether he was still married to her, but never could get any info.

Used to be in one of his opening acts, late 70’s- early 80’s. Great guy, so relaxed and down to earth. Clint Eastwood was similar, no star attitude, very cordial. But there was an edge under the surface with Clint.
