The tiny Caribbean island of Barbuda was steamrolled by Hurricane Irma — as the superstorm’s confirmed death toll climbed to three Wednesday.

Barbuda and Antigua Prime Minister Gaston Browne reported that 90 percent of the structures on Barbuda were destroyed by the ‘cane, which was packing sustained 185-mph winds when it made landfall at 1:47 a.m.

He repeatedly said over a crackling radio line that the island, which is home to about 1,500 people, is destroyed, according to the Guardian.

I doubt he’ll be using his outdoor patio toilet very much this week.

I guess it’s wrong of me to hope that Little St. James gets wiped off the map...

No, that’s a reasonable thing to hope for

Island completely destroyed, yet only 1 death reported out of 1700 population. Sounds like they’re much tougher than folks in New Orleans.

I’ll bet that number climbs significantly. No one has gone and done a thorough survey yet.

You would think a multi-billionaire could afford a few more strips of tape than that and maybe use strapping tape.

Since storm shutters or duct tape were apparently over-budget items.

“gee, maybe Guam will tilt sideways and sink, too?”

Islands do not tilt and sink despite what experts in congress may say. They are bottom heavy. They are built like Weebles. They wobble but don’t fall down.

Don’t like the look of those taped windows right near the beds. Tape is not going to matter when a flying tree hits that window. Ouch.

Ummmm. If there is still an island with 1700 people on it then it was neither “wiped out” or destroyed.

It could tip over though.....

I'm guessing there wasn't as much looting either.

Saw a film from somewhere where a big ‘cane literally took apart a cinderblock building.
