This is nuts. It is way too soon to give away the lost pets of hurricane victims.

Think of the little kids or old folks who lost everything and have hope to find their little lost best friends.

Sounds like a dog stealing ring out of California. Texas needs to investigate.

The shelters and rescues were already stretched before Harvey. Due to the financial strain illegals placed on small cities along the border some cities were/are shutting down ‘non-essential’ services which is a catagory that animal services fall into. Any pets remaining by the close date were euthanized. Rescues in Texas are already stretched with pets pulled from those shelters.

We have two Texas dogs, Iris and Thor. Iris, a sweet-eyed heeler/spaniel mix, was pulled from Crystal City shelter that was closing, by Cressie Animal Refuge and Enrichment (CARETX) based in San Antonio. Thor, a black Staffie/Sharpei was pulled from Pearland Animal Services in Houston area, by CARETX per my request. The daughter of the Animal Services Director drove Thor from Pearland-Houston to San Antonio to deliver him to CARETX. Wonderful, caring people.

Pearland is affected by the flooding however their dogs and cats had been picked up by a rescue and taken out of the area as they are taking in pets affected by Harvey as well as making available pet supplies. They have also set up an area with supplies for horses as well.

CARETX and Austin Pets Alive are taking in pets as well. Please donate directly to local shelters and rescues as larger organization like PETA and HSUS are like the Red Cross.
