These Antifia folks who destroy public property and attack innocent civilians make a good argument for public caning. The various States and municipalities should consider legislation to bring the practice into wider use.

There was a kid in Singapore, Michael Fay, who was accused in 1994 of vandalism. Fay was sentenced on March 3, 1994 to four months in jail, a fine of 3,500 Singapore dollars (US $2,214 or £1,514 at the time), and six strokes of the cane (later reduced to four strokes).

He returned to America after serving his jail term and had numerous run ins with the law, but I imagine he'd never again get in trouble in Singapore.
