The light passed about 100-200ft above their aircraft. They assumed it to be a drone and reported it to air traffic control. There was no time to take avoiding action, said the report on the incident, which happened on May 26.

In 2013 another A320 also had a narrow miss with an unidentified object over Glasgow.
The A320 was flying with its landing lights on, in clear conditions and at an altitude of about 4,000ft above the Baillieston area of Glasgow, when the pilot and non-flying pilot saw an object loom ahead at a range of about 100m.
The pilot asked the controller at Glasgow Airport if he was talking to anything in the area the controller said he was not talking to anyone else in that area and that nothing was seen on radar.
Air traffic control said they had no trace of any other objects in the area at the time of the incident, although the radar at Prestwick did spot an unidentified track history 1.3 nautical miles east of the A320s position 28 seconds earlier.

Best scene in that movie.
Was 100-200ft above their aircraft. So they would have had to take the pictures through the transparent ceiling?
Now that’s some smart ET’s.
A dji phantom or similar that high up as viewed by an approachign airliner would appear little more than a speck before it got sucked into an engine. Hobby grade drones are tiny, hard to see unless it’s only a few hundred feet away, and it’s a big sky up there.
Thread got moved to general/chat for some unknown reason.
I posted it in chat.
How do they know the UFO had 200 people on board?
Still another reason to drain the swamp.
Get rid of those pesky UFOs
okay!
Either that or anyone with a window seat could have stuck their arm out and snapped s few that way................
.
I get your point, but to be fair, the two streaks that I have witnessed were only visible for about 1-2 seconds, pop in - pop out.
The most recent was a couple of years ago, up near Randy Larsen’s territory, and was discussed here until Jim pulled the thread. Numerous Freepers saw it.
We were driving down Hwy 70, coming back from Chico.

Ach, Laddie ‘at was a wee bit too close!
>>So they would have had to take the pictures through the transparent ceiling?<<<
Only if they were Passengers in Wonder Woman’s Airplane.
So, the airplane was hit? (”near miss”).. :p
What happened to the more accurate description of “near hit”?
So you're saying it didn't happen? Two pilots risked their careers by reporting this, just for the hell of it?
I don’t know nor do you!
Or, perhaps, a “Lady From Hell” !
Ah, but you took a stand by expressing your skepticism, didn't you?
Point is, those pilots risked their careers by making that report. That says to me, they saw something. What it was, we don't know.
