Would Trump lose your support if he caved on DACA?

Posted on 09/01/2017 5:57:18 PM PDT by GAGOP

Since nothing else has passed, this is what would do it for me. I am sick of Republicans. If he does keep DACA before tax reform and border wall, get used to Speaker Pelosi, Senate majority leader Schumer, and president Kamala Harris.

>>>He would lose my vocal support absolutely. I would welcome a challenger to make him one term<<<

Really, a challenger like Jeb who would get steamrolled in the General? Wise move.

I was a Cruzer. If I was delusional, I would say he would have Won against Hillary. I’m not delusional.

I think Trump is a lot smarter than many here believe he is.

The "Build a Wall and Make Mexico Pay For It" provides one example.

The East Germans and the Soviets proved that no wall will stop a determined person. It took barbed wire, minefields, search lights, vicious dogs, and machine guns. And even then there were people trying to cross.

The purpose of "the wall" is to stop illegal immigration. The most effective way for the U.S. to do that is to cut off the benefits of such immigration.

Assuming that Trump knows this, then I predict that he will cave, if you want to use that term, on building "the wall". If he does remove the incentives to immigrate illegally, then he will accomplish what we want.

In addition, he will be able to trade building the wall for something else of value to conservatives. Trump has created a fiction that has real value.

Another poster suggested that our needs are: WALL - TAXES - JUDGES.

We don't need a wall, we need disincentives for illegal immigrants to keep them from coming and encourage them to self-deport.

We don't need tax reductions. A nation that admits to owing 20 trillion dollars and which, in fact, has promised about 150 trillion dollars that it doesn't have, has no business reducing tax revenue.

As for judges; I can't imagine anything more critical to our future than a Supreme Court that will follow our Constitution and protect the freedoms for which our Founders sacrificed. As I have previously stated on this forum: "Gorsuch, Gorsuch, Gorsuch". This is what winning looks like and you can judge from our opposition's behavior just how successful Trump has been so far.

I support Trump but wish he wouldn’t waste his time with DACA.

What is your personal interest in DACA? Are you a dreamer? Do you hire dreamers? Is this a ‘religious’ agenda?

Did Trump make a campaign promise to get rid of DACA?

You’re right that the rule of law MUST be restored but part of that is making a judgment on the results of prolonged lawlessness which began with underage people who have meanwhile become adults of legal age. There is a gray area which has been created by a lack of law enforcement and it should be adjudicated. Trump won’t lose my support unless he fails to restore the rule of law in the process of dealing with this situation.

Interesting. What, in your opinion, has he done?

Perhaps you're unaware of the President's executive orders regarding extreme vetting?

And the increased, aggressive deportation of criminal illegals?

And the court challenges from the Democrats, which have been smacked down by the Supreme Court?

And the increased ICE enforcement, funding, and morale?

And the President's continued commitment to the wall?

And his pardon of Sheriff Arpaio—which infuriates the Democrats?

Yeah, the President hasn't done anything, has he?

Just keep indulging those bitter #NeverTrump impulses—the ones that cause you to willfully disregard objective reality, and the President's real record of bona fide efforts and tangible success.

The bitterness clearly lingers...

It would be disappointing. I don’t think Kamala will be president...maybe VP for Hickenlooper or Roy Cooper. They need to appeal to white working class.

The ‘script’ for robot calls as directed by Catholic Bishops

https://justiceforimmigrants.org/action-alerts/justice-immigrants-urgent-request-support-young-immigrants-call-white-house-today-urge-president-maintain-daca/

“I am calling as a concerned Catholic to strongly urge the President to maintain the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The approximately 800,000 young immigrants who have received DACA are vital members of our parishes, communities, and nation; they should not have to live their lives in fear of deportation.

He drives me a little nuts sometimes, too; but I believe that his essential spirit is in the right place. I wouldn’t have voted for him, or continue to support him, otherwise.

Another strike in my book were the reports that Ivanka and Jared were hob nobbing with Soros in the Hamptons. That really made me sick. I spend time praying for them to be strong against the pure evil that is surrounding them, most coming from the Satan Soros. Really makes me want to just throw up my hands and say WTF.

I do not care how many nattering nabobs decide to twaddle over his upstream swim this first year, I will always support him. He beat Hillary. No one else could’ve; not a chance. He will finish his term and get re-elected. It’s like Gen Washington in the Revolution, losing, retreating, privation, desertion; but he never lost courage. Neither should we.

Cast my ballot for Trump because I wanted someone other than Hillary to appoint the next Supreme Ct nominee and because I wanted good jobs for my Grandchildren and their contemporaries. I’ve gotten what I wanted!

I will not condem him for doing something that was not one of my priorities.

1, I think it would be good to have a sort of “Peace Corps” concept where they have to serve in their birth country for two years. This would help the country, would send the message that you don’t just bail on your people and run to make your own life better, would connect them to their roots and make them appreciate America and the concept of service. As a bonus, maybe they would stay there permanently and start helping to make their countries better. To me, this would feel like they earned their way to be here.
2, If we buy into the idea that children are victims of where their parents take them, then how is it that state colleges and universities can charge “out of state” tuition? Are you not just as victimized by being taken to a state with no good college options when your parents move? You are only “out of state” because you were taken out of state.

Would not be a deal breaker if so.

However, at the same time he should replace Sessions with a Pit Bull. Someone who can come in and say, I do not need to recuse myself as it relates to thesis so called Russian investigation. The new AG then needs to state he/she will get a briefing from contract worker Mueller on the investigation and have a response in 72 hours. Then if the evidence shows collusion between Comey and Mueller to take down a sitting President, the new AG needs to succinctly connect the dots in a live broadcast. Former AG Sessions needs to make all the Media rounds showing 1000% support for Trump.

Comey and Mueller are CORRUPT. Is there a bull dog available to become the new AG in order to ensure justice?
