Officials at the San Domenico School in California decided recently to remove the Catholic statues and icons in a move to be seen as more inclusive.
The school is celebrating its 167th year.
Officials feared the statues of Jesus and Mary were alienating.
MarinIJ reported:
Removal of a number of statues and other smaller Catholic icons from the campus of San Domenico School in San Anselmo has raised concerns among some parents.
In an email to the school’s board of directors, Dominican Sisters of San Rafael and the head of school, Shannon Fitzpatrick objected to the removal of the statues and other steps the school has taken in an effort to make the school more inclusive.
“Articulating an inclusive foundation appears to mean letting go of San Domenico’s 167-year tradition as a Dominican Catholic school and being both afraid and ashamed to celebrate one’s heritage and beliefs,” wrote Fitzpatrick, whose 8-year-old son attends the school.
She added, “In our time here, the word ‘Catholic’ has been removed from the mission statement, sacraments were removed from the curriculum, the lower school curriculum was changed to world religions, the logo and colors were changed to be ‘less Catholic,’ and the uniform was changed to be less Catholic.”
Responding to follow-up questions Monday, Fitzpatrick wrote, “There are other families having the same concerns I do. Many parents feel if the school is heading in a different direction then the San Domenico community should have been notified before the signing of the enrollment for the following year.”

In other words, rich liberal Jews (in name only).
Boston College took down the Crucifixes years ago. It took a Jewish professor to get them back up. He reminded the Jesuits what The Society of Jesus is. Someone should remind the Pope while we’re at it.
Some would claim this is a move to stop “idolatry” but it really nothing of the kind. There have been icons of Christ and other religious figures in various Christian churches for centuries, and only rarely does someone come up with shouts about graven images. The statue is only a source of inspiration to the faithful, and not the deity or the saint itself.
This institution may be preparing to embrace and accept Islam, and they do not want any “offending” reminders of the very real differences between what was once Christianity and the “new look” of what Islam wants the world who are non-Muslim to see, changing their brand, so to speak.
My tag line - not inclusive, exclusive.
Bout damn time California changed the names of all those cities that begin with San and Santa. As well as the name of the capitol, Sacramento.
____________
And Corpus Christi in Texas has to go, too.
They think Jesus had white privilege.
True enough, although the King James Bible states it a little differently:
John 14:6 6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
(King James Bible)
Zackly. And Notre Dame? Ooh. That one is a little tricky. “Notre Dame” just translates into Our Lady. At least I think it does. Just to be safe, perhaps they should change it to something La Cosa Nostra or something like that.
This has to be from The Onion, right????
This crap cannot be real. Please tell me it isn’t real.
Probably the same way I do, I suspect. At this school, specifically, It was the tradition during the Christmas season to present tableaux, a special Drama event where elected students are assigned honored roles in the Nativity Celebration.
Followed up eventually when each graduating class had a special permanent honor prominently displayed listing the one Graduating student displaying the kindness, behavior, charitable and academic excellence defining the spirit of Catholic education.
By definition, that is no longer possible; Or evidently, desirable.
That, sadly, summarizes it all.
So dies the Catholic Church, now just a front for International Marxism.
If someone enrolls their child in a Catholic school, that is a willful action, they have no right to complain or feel a lack of inclusion, what's next will they reorient the chapel to mecca, remove the cross and only allow men in to pray?
If only the Catholic had a real committed Pope instead of a pope that really needs to be committed this would never be able to happen.
Having grown up in San Rafael where everything was pretty much Dominican...this is shocking news. I’m not catholic but I have sympathy for the traditional Catholics.
Now, if someone could accomplish that at Georgetown U.
We could call it the New Restoration...
I remember Catholics casting out demons at great peril.
Casting out statutes seems kinda weenie in comparison.
Selling their soul for some friendly press is bad enough. But just think how boring will be the next Exorcist movie.
I am Catholic but the church has become stale locally and the Pope is one that I never agree with.
The "Christian" left is devouring traditionalism and Islam is consuming the left.
When i was growing up, all those years before the national Dept. of Education, there were two schools:
Catholic or public.
Also at that time, there were no queers schlubbing up matters.
Catholic schools did have corporate punishment, if you earned it. But catholic schools, also had higher expectations of teaching than the minimum state requirements, too. So, if you started in a Catholic school, but because of dad’s work moved away and were put in public education, you more than likely were put in the higher curriculum at that new school.
Case in point: By the time I entered 10th grade in public school, as by my education record, I already had half of the classes taken in that 10th grade, 11th grade and 12th grade.
For the last 3 school years, I had one required class, and only needed 3 electives each year. that was half a day of school, and the other half, I did my homework before i got home.
Now, for a Catholic school, “to become inclusive”, ain’t Catholic, no mo’.
Good. Veneration of statues is a sin
