Live long and prosper: William Shatner creates portrait of Spock composed of Trekkie selfies in tribute to Leonard Nimoy.

William Shatner has created the ultimate tribute to his former Star Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy - a portrait of Spock composed entirely of Trekkie selfies.

The incredible picture is made up of thousands of fans giving the Vulcan 'live long and prosper' salute in a moving homage to Nimoy who passed away aged 83 in February of this year.

Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the original sci fi series, appealed for the selfies on Twitter earlier this month without letting on what the pictures were for.

And how about when they reversed the whole scene so that Kirk would die in the Chris Pine remake?

That’s gonna be fun if it ever comes out as a 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle.

Shatner couldn’t act but I like the Canuck.

I never saw Shatner in anything but Star Trek and Boston Legal, but I thought he was thoroughly professional in both of those. The one who had major problems technically was Paul Darrow, Avon from Blake’s 7. Perhaps from too much stage work, but his eyes were always drifting to the camera when he shouldn’t have been aware of it.

"..the farther you get from the image the less it looks like Einstein and the more it looks like Marilyn Monroe"

I've been told that at a distance I look like a composite of Sam Elliot, Sean Connery, Tom Jones and Rutger Hauer.

(How far? Oh, I dunno... half - three quarters of a mile.)

Yes he could, in Star Trek he was a ham portraying a ham.

It’s cool but not nearly as cool as Penney giving Nimoy’s used napkin to Sheldon.

Since he’s always taking off his shirt in Trek, wouldn’t beefcake be more appropriate?

Believe it or not, I did not watch the remake.

Some things in life are perfect as they stand... “Wrath” was one of those things. :^)

Ricardo Montalban was excellent in that role. I remember the original “Space Seed” episode, and he played it perfectly.

There’s a show on Netflix called “In Search of Spock”, made by Nimoy’s son. It’s a wonderful film, recommend seeing it if you get a chance.

A nice tribute from a son to his father.

If you esteem Mr. Nimoy, do not Google “Leonard Nimoy, Bilbo Baggins.”
