Good point. Cherry picking earlier Lincoln quotes is rather disingenuous, considering the fact that he did undergo a change as his wisdom and experience grew...

That was something James Mitchell, the Commissioner for Emigration, wrote to Lincoln.

I just copied the quotes from a googled page on someone’s blog. It was more of a thought exercise in if we should judge historical figured by today’s SJW standards and served its purpose.
