“Manchester Evening News reporter Samantha Yarwood described seeing police talking to a ‘little girl on a bench’ who ‘appears to be wrapped in a towel’.
Armed police only attended because they were in the area at the time, according to the MEN.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a child.
‘The Serious Collision Investigation Unit and other emergency services attended the scene. A little boy has sadly died.’
