Duh! How many planets can you see when a big black cloud obscures the sun? How many f-stops do you have to open up on a cloudy day as opposed to a night shot with a full moon; or don't you know what an f-stop is?

It’s black as night with only a very faint light from the corona of the sun. Stars are visible. I’ve been through a few tornadic storms that were dark enough to cause street lights to come on in the middle of the day, and a total eclipse is darker than that.
