A 60-year-old Singaporean could be jailed for up to two years if found guilty of sticking toothpicks into a bus seat in a suspected case of "mischief", police said.
Singapore, whose crime rates are among the world's lowest, has tough laws for minor offences such as vandalism, which can be punished with caning. The import and sale of chewing gum is banned except for medical reasons.Police launched an investigation after a bus company in the city-state reported last week that one of their vehicles' passenger seats was perforated with toothpicks.
"Through extensive ground enquiries and with the assistance of CCTV footages, officers...established the identity of the suspect," they said in a statement on Tuesday. A Facebook user posted pictures at the end of last month of three toothpicks sticking out of a bus seat, with the post shared more than 2,500 times.

IIRC Singapore is made up of three main groups...ethnic Chinese, ethnic Indians and ethnic Malays.I don't know any percentages though.Funny that the law should be focused on only one group.
Why a duck?
I did notice when I was there certain people making disparaging remarks about Malaysians.
Would you like to learn how to re-size photographs?
It’s not that we need laws of the severity they have in Singapore. It’s that we need to enforce the laws we have and enforce them the same way for everyone.
On my screen it showed up as a nice manageable size.
I can never resize a photograph well. or I forgot how to do it well.
Strangely enough, if you post oversized pictures in Malaysian news groups, it’s no big deal . ;)
:)
I seem to need to check actual image size. When I brought that particular JPG’s url up on my computer before posting. It was, on my 22” monitor, about 5” by 4”.
So I just inserted that url into the HTML and figured that is how big it would appear.

This is how to format that image (without the < and the >):
img height=500 src=https://images.halloweencostumes.com/products/14767/1-1/groucho-glasses.jpg
It’s really easy, and semi-automatic.
Type out your HTML like always and right after you insert the link location with “ type (no quotes)height=(and insert a number) then close quotes. Then /> like always.
You can specify both height and width, but if you just put in height, it will calculate the width to the same proportions as the original.

This is the actual line of code with < & > replaced by*
*img src="https://images.halloweencostumes.com/products/14767/1-1/groucho-glasses.jpg"height="500"/*
Can’t do the “time” - don’t do the crime...
” its contrary to the 8th Amendment.”
If “the chair” is ok, I don’t see how a few swats with a cane is outside the bounds.
In many cases, three strokes with the Singapore cane leaves the recipient in shock.
You don’t have to keep selling it - I’m already a fan.
8^)
Are they probing him with toothpicks?
I really don’t have a problem with it either.
I just mention it because there are still some folks out
there that think it’s like getting “pointer swats” from
the Football Coach for cutting up in Social Studies class.
I wonder if 60 is too old to cane. The bottom in pain, may be his own.
This guy won't, though. He's 60. It's traumatic enough that they don't do it to anyone over 45 for fear they'll kill him. They can go easy on you if there's a reason - they did on Michael Fay, by rumor at least, who said the bleeding was like a bloody nose from his four. Others have reported worse. I'm happy I never found out.
