Meet Jeffrey Boog Powell, the newest Little Leaguer to lasso Americas heart.
The Tennessee 12-year-old stands at an imposing 5-foot-2 and 220 pounds and looks every bit like a fearless slugger with swagger.
And although hes no relation to that other Boog, the Baltimore Orioles great or to the As newly acquired Powell when he stepped up to the plate Monday night during the Little League Southeast Regional semifinals, he immediately became the object of Twitter affection...

sugar coat it... i see what you did there.
Gallon of sweet tea a day and deep fried everything and that’s what you get.
Lovey, lovey love it! Hope the kid has the time of his life! This game is coming to my hometown next week. It is baseball at its purest and finest. I shall be glued to my TV for ten days. Hope that someday my 8 great- grandsons make it to Williamsport!
No Pop Warner Football for that kid- weight limitations.
These people here are making me sick...the kid is twelve...in the next two years, he might grow 8 inches, lean and mean, and be a perfect size for baseball.
6'1" and 180...but I don't FEEL skinny!
Congrats! TG you didn’t raise him on rice and arugula!
Pop Warner is an inferior league.
Read the article. Boog’s team fell to North Carolina. Hope they can still come up to watch the Series. There is nothing else like it in the Wide, Wide World of Sports!
“Pitching and hitting favor wide bodies.”
Babe Ruth.
Most people don’t know that he was one of the best pitchers in all of baseball when he was with the Red Sox. He held World Series records as a pitcher for decades. Still one of the best ERAs of any pitcher.
Obese boy who needs serious dietary help
This kid is a diabetic/heart attack waiting to happen
Yup
I’m glad I didn’t have to feed that kid. The big one was the other guy, not my son. Great kid, too.
This child will be diabetic befor he’s fifteen. He is mornidly obese. He needs serious dietary help
This kid will be diabetic before he’s fifteen
This kid didn’t park it.
He is mornidly obese. His chances of diabetes and heart problems before he is out of his teens is enormous
I’m sorry!
No more cookies for him!
Maybe we should chop off his hands!
Air Force, too. I ran every lunchtime, played racquetball 3 or 4 nights a week, and was named best in the Air Force in my career field twice but always struggled to get below the 180 and a few ounces that the Air Force said was my maximum weight. Oddly they never paid any attention to the clause in the regulation that said the commander could waive the weight if the airman presented a good appearance in his uniform. It was all weight, weight, and nothing but weight. The monthly fight finally drove me to retire.
I am considered morbidly obese, but I do 60 push-ups every other day and walk a mile the others... he’s 5’2”... could be all muscle.
Doubtful. He’s consuming Gatorade which is more sugar than anyone needs
And are you diabetic? Exercise helps but not if you have a crap diet
