It continues to confound liberals and conservatives alike: Why would the Left defend Islamists?
The latest victim of this fascinating alliance is Richard Dawkins, the English left-wing atheist who was disinvited by a Berkeley left-wing radio station after it was discovered that Dawkins said Islam is the world’s “most evil” religion.
It did not matter to KPFA that Dawkins has made a career out of bashing Christianity, especially Catholicism—that was laudatory—but it did matter when he ripped Islam. Why did that bother the Left?
On the surface, it makes no sense for the Left to embrace Islamists. After all, the Left counsels a sexual free-for-all, and Islamists want a sexual noose on women and gays. How can libertinism and sharia be squared?
Scratch beneath the surface and it quickly becomes apparent that what unites the Left and Islamists is hate: hatred of the West. They hate America, they hate Europe, and they would like to destroy Israel.
It is that animus that commits the haters to targeting the Judeo-Christian ethos, upon which the West was built. That is why they want to gut it. The Left will support any movement that seeks to disable the West. Even after 9/11, the Left attacked Christianity, not Islam.
Dawkins finds it ironic that a Berkeley radio station is silencing him, noting that Berkeley is home to the Free Speech Movement of the 1960s. If he were an independent thinker, he wouldn’t be so shocked. A closer look at that event reveals how little the activists valued free speech...

Islam, as a philosophical construct, was the precursor to both the National Socialism of Adolf Hitler and the Communist Manifesto of Karl Marx.
Islam, at its core, draws its economic foundations from many of the same basic tenets as to both National Socialism, and International Socialism, Communism.
Islam has always had this extra feature, the trappings of a religion, in which a vengeful and petty deity is the emotional bond that ties the adherents into this close and highly restrictive life, in which the vast majority are kept humble and “obedient” to that deity (largely on threat of death if they misbehave), and strict limits are placed on banking institutions, and ownership, and personal range of privacy. The hierarchy uses the implicit and explicit threats to cow the non-Muslim neighbors into submission, accepting this same petty and vengeful deity, to be subject to enslavement or even put to death on the spot.
The part that the Nazis and Communists did not get quite right was in failure to set up a sufficiently fierce and basically psychotic deity as their moral authority. That is the major reason the crude socialism that is carved into Sharia law has survived some 1,400 years.
They are the SA to the SS. They think they can control the Islamists eventually. Ha. Ha.
The liberals want to be known as the party of tolerance. Even as they’re the most intolerant of ideologies, next to Islam.
They want to come across as the party of peace, and tolerance, in order to gain supporters, and to placate the supporters they do have. It’s all about making sure that their voters/supporters and potential new supporters, get added to their coalition of groups that identify as democrats, and voters for democrats. It’s why they want to be known as the defenders of “undocumented immigrants” (more correctly known as illegal aliens), and the defenders of Muslims and the defenders of blacks and other minorities.
It’s all about CONTROL. Not hate. Hate my have a bit to do with it, but, in the end, it’s about control of every conceivable group and people that they can get close to. Every vote counts, and the Muslim/ISIS/Al-Qaeda supporters in the U.S. will not be supporting republicans. The liberals in the education systems, especially at the college and university levels, will be assisting liberals by every means possible, including assisting our enemies, in order to gain that ultimate control over the country. Democrats could not care crap about ISIS or Muslims or blacks or Hispanics or any other group or people. What they care about is the rule after they gain the control.
It’s the end justifies the means mentality. Don’t worry about complications or about repercussions, as long as everything ultimately leads to control.
It has never confounded me, because I understand Original Sin and the role of Satan.
