If the tech is so simple to find/use to make these SCAM/fraudulent calls - then it is equally possible that telecommunications companies could implement protections AGAINST said technology.

And since they apparently are doing NOTHING to prevent this abuse - I hold the telecommunications companies EQUALLY at fault as co-conspirators.

They would have to completely change the protocol and replace all existing phones. Right now, the number is sent by the phone.

I worked for telecomm. They can tell when fake numbers are being used. But they either they charge for looking the other way, or they don't want to upset their lucrative telemarketer customers.

This could be fixed by FCC regulation: Faked phone numbers not allowed, telcomms to be held responsible.

They are selling our numbers to the bastards or the bastards are using their service.

The telco does LOTS to prevent abuse. And the scammers find a new way to abuse. It’s an arms race. Which we’re losing because the telco does nothing for free.

Phone companies make money off telemarketers. The telemarketers make a million phone calls versus the few that we make. Guess why nothing gets done to stop this.

A candidate who promises to execute telemarketers will win in the greatest landslide in history.
