He stomped over miniature bridges and buildings in a rubber suit and gave the world Godzilla, the fire-breathing, screeching monster that became Japans star cultural export and an enduring symbol of the pathos and destruction of the nuclear age.
Haruo Nakajima, who portrayed Godzilla in the original 1954 classic, died Monday of pneumonia, his daughter Sonoe Nakajima told The Associated Press on Tuesday. He was 88.

Ricou Brwoning who played the Gill Man in “The Creature From The Black Lagoon” still lives. He is 87.
He was a student at Florida State and was asked to pick up some guys at the airport and drive them to Wakulla Springs.

A different actor played him on land.
No paw prints?
RIP, Mr. Nakajima.
As a kid, I was a huge fan. Some of my fondest memories are your movies.
I always rooted for Godzilla, BTW, regardless of which monster he was fighting that day.

Salute to Mr. Nakajima who brought Godzilla to life and gave the character personality.

RIP Haruo, long live Godzilla.
The first suit was made of concrete and weighed 220 lbs.
I never knew that either.
Supposedly there was an earlier Godzilla film made in the 1930’s.
But no copies exist because the studio’s film warehouse was located in Nagasaki. DOH!
RIP
the group Fu Manchu from the 90s,, does a great cover version of Godzilla . ..
