MANILA, Aug 7 (Reuters) - North Korea is ready to give the United States a "severe lesson" with its strategic nuclear force if it takes military action against it,
and will not put its nuclear programme or its missiles on the negotiating table, it said in a statement to a regional meeting on Monday.

In a transcript of a statement by Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho, which was distributed to media in Manila,
Pyongyang called new U.N. sanctions "fabricated" and warned there would be "strong follow-up measures" and acts of justice.
It said the resolution showed the United Nations had abused its authority.

It was once a given that if your salary equaled your age then you were ding well, i.e. 60 years old = $60k/yr.

I have done that.

BUT, when you ‘adjust for inflation’, [ https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl ], I discover that I am making the equivalent of what I started at when I was first married at 24......................

backwoods-engineer: " Read the book The Fourth Turning by Strauss and Howe.
Essentially, their theme is that major conflicts in a society/civilization are generational,
and predictably occur about every 80 years..."

Thank you for the source
and a brief explanation of the concept.
The Fourth Turning as you have presented it, represents a societal, historical, or generational approach to history, which repeats itself.
The Fourth Turning explains this conflict as a re-occurring historical timetable which can be anticipated , and is predictable.

Almost impossible...you’d have to steal one of theirs, as all nukes have a signature that points to place of origin.

Furthermore, it explains why the Democrats invoke an "inheritance tax" on income that has already been taxed.
It prevents already taxed income earned by our ancestors from assisting their children to get ahead of government controlled inflation.
You might say that it creates an economic caste system, which prevents successive generations from getting ahead,
and locks them into an economic level (blue collar, middle class, wealthy, etc).
Inheritance tax is just another form ("Share the misery") of Socialism and prevents economic class advancement.

What I’m concerned with is NK firing off a nuke/EMP blast above cities like L.A. and the Bay Area

Make sure he has an up to date map.

Boomer :" What I’m concerned with is NK firing off a nuke/EMP blast above cities like L.A. and the Bay Area wiping out a lot of our communications and for those living there; their power grid. It would take months, maybe years, before we were back to normal "

Electricity is something we take for granted; you flip the switch and the power for lighting, or motor operation is right there.
Most people don't realize that an EMP could likely wipe out transformers and power sub-stations, and possibly leave the USA crippled for years,
since most transformers are ordered years in advance, for a specific area, and are constructed in China and the Far East.
William R. Forstchen wrote several reality-based fictional novels about an EMP/ Solar Burst caused collapsed electrical grid, and the effects upon society.

“It would take months, maybe years, before we were back to normal and I’m not just talking about FR.”

It would be wonderful if FR had a backup site located in the Eastern US.

There is no easy answer. Something has to be done for the sake of the future. This is not going away and the fact that being a nuclear country should be an entitlement is a severe threat to our country. The Fat Norker may not nuke or EMP us but he very well hand that task to another. I thank God every day that Clinton is NOT our CIC.

And the government pretends inflation is low because they exclude the items we actually buy in their calculations. So any COLAs are artificially low, with many industries following suit.

And interest rates on savings also follow suit. And here I am giddy that my money market accounts are going up by 1/4 percent, after years of stagnation. It forces people into the risky stock market.

When 80 years have passed, and people who remember how horrible the last one was would have to be at least 90, but most of them deceased in times past.

Makes sense.

They could shoot one off. Whether it would land where they intended is another question.

The best case backup under that scenario would be a stack of clunker BBS machines on dialup running over something like fidonet if it’s still around...

“BUT, when you ‘adjust for inflation’, I discover that I am making the equivalent of what I started at when I was first married at 24.”

Inflation is one of the chiefest ways that a government steals from its creditors and its people.

HA! I already thought of that. We simply remind the world that Bill Clinton and Madeline Albright gave them American produced fuel cores to supposedly build a peaceful program. SO of course it would look like our stuff.

And who exactly is going to call us on it? -Nobody- likes Norks having nukes. And if they suspected we just did that, that gives us a certain insurance that comes from scaring the F out of everyone.
